VMedia or other IPTV affiliationsHello,
I've been wondering with the deployment of Vmedia in some of the Ontario region & with the possible arrival of Vmedia in Quebec, does EBox have a chance of offering their service?
I don't really understand why we have to be with specific ISPs to be able to get IPTV (like Zazeen & Vmedia) but if anybody can enlighten me, I'll give virtual respect!
Thanks, DeeHeretic. |

This is imposed by CRTC. Probably so Cable and satellite provider can still compete with IPTV service. They must have their own hardware and they have to duplicate hardware in every area they deserve. |

I don't know how Ebox could offer this w/o *true* unlimited.
250-gigs just wouldn't cut it, unless you only watched TV after 2-am. |

I think it would be tough to do in unicast (figuring out average required transit through Videotron per customer and charging for IPTV accordingly). If multicast was possible, which is how Colbanet is doing it, it becomes more interesting. |
