[Internet] Lightning 90 (10mbps up) coming soon!

We're excited to announce our fastest Internet speed, Lightning 90! Lightning 90 will be available to new and existing Residential customers in our Florida markets boasting 90mbps down and 10mbps up!

Tampa and Central Florida customers go ahead and be the first to get on the list here »applications.brighthouse ··· bps.aspx

Already have Lightning 60? Upgrade to Lightning 90 for as little as $15 more per month, plus tax and equipment. Turbo customers can add Lightning 90 for as little as $30 more per month, plus tax and equipment.

I knew something was going on when my 60MBPS connection was showing about 80 / 7 on a speed test I did a few days ago. Same thing happened right before 60MBPS lightning was announced

I am guessing those 3 analogs being removed in Central Florida has something to do with this

That actually had nothing to do with it.

Only those with SMC D3 modems (rare) will need new equipment otherwise if you currently have a Ubee, Moto, Arris D3 modem you are good to go.

I believe that bright house plans on doing 8 downstreams for the internet in areas with DOCSIS 3.0 eventually (soon and already underway to clear the bandwidth in some markets) but they have to remove some analogs to clear out bandwidth for some of the additional downstream channels.

Time Warner Cable is doing something similar to Bright House with the digital adapters and removing a few analogs in select markets the TWC market I am in moved 4 analogs to digital only last month and this month they are making progress in going from 6 downstreams on the internet to 8 downstreams on the internet by moving 2 SDV QAM frequencies to new locations to open 2 new slots for DOCSIS channels.

This is what I have with TWC in North Texas which I believe is similar to bright house except for the frequencies being used:

Downstream Bonded Channels
Channel Lock Status Modulation Channel ID Frequency Power SNR Correctables Uncorrectables
1 Locked QAM256 1 783000000 Hz -3.3 dBmV 37.9 dB 386 0
2 Locked QAM256 2 789000000 Hz -3.8 dBmV 37.3 dB 470 0
3 Locked QAM256 3 795000000 Hz -4.3 dBmV 36.8 dB 927 0
4 Locked QAM256 4 801000000 Hz -4.4 dBmV 36.5 dB 1476 0
5 Locked QAM256 5 807000000 Hz -5.0 dBmV 35.9 dB 3790 0
6 Locked QAM256 6 813000000 Hz -5.1 dBmV 36.9 dB 3021 0
7 Not Locked Unknown 0 0 Hz 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB 0 0
8 Not Locked Unknown 0 0 Hz 0.0 dBmV 0.0 dB 0 0

Upstream Bonded Channels
Channel Lock Status US Channel Type Channel ID Symbol Rate Frequency Power
1 Locked TDMA and ATDMA 10 2560 Ksym/sec 33000000 Hz 30.0 dBmV
2 Locked TDMA and ATDMA 9 2560 Ksym/sec 36500000 Hz 30.0 dBmV
3 Locked TDMA and ATDMA 11 2560 Ksym/sec 29500000 Hz 30.0 dBmV
4 Locked TDMA and ATDMA 12 2560 Ksym/sec 24500000 Hz 30.0 dBmV

TWC has freed up 771MHz and 777MHz in my area to be used for DOCSIS.

my only question why no 100Mbps tier instead of 90Mbps? I guess it might be to not overload the network?

A number has to be picked. A person could argue "why 90 vs 100?" Another may argue "Why 100 vs 110?" It could go on and on and on.

I signed up for the email(s) concerning it. If I push the button to order it would be solely for the upload. I recently purchased a Synology DS713+, and I find myself using its features more and more. I had an old CS407e, and wore it clear out.

No worries we can fix that. I'll be parting with mine too Turbo so we can cry together and remember the good times

Definitely interested in this, just "signed up" for the info... BH has been continuously improving on a number of fronts. I anticipate coming back to them for TV service in the future. I just wish they'd offer service at our "getaway" property in zip 34449.

You aren't going to see any speed increase on 40/5. You will need to upgrade to RR60 or RR90.

I signed up . . . what is the time frame looking like at this point? A few days, a few weeks? ... a few minutes? I mean, if your going to offer these ridiculously fast speeds, the potential customer for that probably doesn't have much patience!

Now the big question is , will your current hardware be able to handle it? Im thinking that I should purchase stock in the companies that sell hardware upgrades

I wondered the same thing. 100/10 has more psychological appeal than 90/10.

I doubt they worry about network overload, since most users rarely max out their connections for long periods of time. Mostly it's small bursts of traffic. I'm willing to bet their overall traffic levels don't increase very much at 90/10 versus 50/5. I'm also willing to bet that the overal traffic levels at 100/10 would be nearly indistinguishable from 90/10.

Give 'em time. I'm sure 100+ Mbps isn't too far away.
