Hello, I'm new to voip and have been reading through the forums to educate myself before embarking on this journey. I have purchased an OBI 100 and am currently evaluating Anveo and Voip.ms (I know there is quite a debate).
Goal: minimize home and cell phone billsI'm not interested in SMS as I rarely use it. I chose Anveo over Voip.ms as I read about some recent problems with Voip.ms. My requirements include:
- pass WAF - must be stable and good quality
- low cost
- easy to setup/maintain as I'll be configuring many relatives houses to do the same
- use on my home phone (via OBI) and my cell (bria, others). Ideally i'd like to setup my wife's cell as well, but again it must pass the WAF
Based on my reading thus far, I really can't go wrong with an OBI and either of these providers. My decision will most likely depend on the last point... usage on cell phone and minimizing my cell bills.
My jailbroken locked Bell iPhone 4s doesn't allow me to view/modify APN. I found a site called tweakker.com/iphone that looks promising. I haven't tried it out yet as I don't want to break my phone as I have yet to purchase a tablet data plan/SIM. I'm hoping the experts in this forum can offer suggestions or guidance for me on what process I should follow?
My guess is I should do the following:
1. purchase a micro sim from Bell/Rogers/Telus for their tablet data flex plan
2. insert sim into my iPhone
3. switch WiFi on and navigate to »
tweakker.com/iphone4. Select the carrier chosen above
5. select subscription (Standard or Tethering) - not sure which I should choose... my guess is Standard
6. continue following the prompts from the tweakker tool
I would follow the same process when I go down to the States as well and choose one of their providers.
If there are other options to minimize all my bills while offering stable, high quality service... I'm all ears.
Looking forward to your responses. Thanks in advance.
