Feedback → [mail] Over limit?

I was just looking at my mail control panel. I have not checked the mail control panel since the end of December 2012 until now. At that time I had used about 3MB space. It's been around that all the years I've had this mail account (at least as far as what it showed me using Fx usually). Now it says I am OVER LIMIT at 17.7MB!

The mail panel is acting weird. I just checked again and when I clicked on "y" for the year's total, it changed from 17.7MB space used to 17.8MB. I clicked again and it changed again to 17.9MB. Then I clicked on "m" for month and it said "0". I clicked on "y" again and FINALLY it showed me "total year to date traffic:" 2.7kb which is for my one alias which is a permanent one. So, the 17+MB is what? The total space used in all the years I have had the account? (I looked through the Mail FAQ but they are really old and I didn't see anything about ""total space used" as opposed to "total year to date traffic" which is only for the alias and not for the main address).

Anyhow, am I over the space limit? I fail to see how it could have gone from about 3MB last December to 17+ this April. Same amount of mail...but a new Win 8 computer and using Opera mail instead of Outlook Express or Thunderbird (as password is still be rejected on TB and SeaMonkey). On XP computer I have OE and received this mail there and received all mail through the permanent alias. When I got this new computer last November 16 and couldn't get Thunderbird or SM to work as the dslr mail server kept rejecting the password, I tried Opera mail. It used the main email address NOT the alias.

Now I see why Thunderbird and SM keep saying dslr mail server is rejecting the password. I just tried setting up the permanent alias in Opera and the mail server rejects the password. Why? The password for BOTH alias and main mail account is my site password. It doesn't get rejected in Outlook Express on the XP computer.

Also, a member here in another thread just stated he can't get an email account because all 2200 are taken. If that is true, then why does my Mail panel state that:
