slow bittorrent download speed since moving to teksavvy 50/1since i moved to teksavvy dsl 50/10 and teksavvy voip i've been getting very poor download speeds on bittorrent. The speeds that i am getting right now are very low 200-500kb max on well seeded torrents The truth is that i am not using bittorrent utorrent or vuze but a torrent built into a nas. I have found the nas torrent to be the most effective torrent client i havbe ever used and the speeds are about 2mb/s and up. but since i switched to the 50/10 dsl service and voip my speeds are very low as i mentioned. I found that sometimes when resetting the modem and the voip speeds would become faster usually 1-2 mb/s but not even then i cant go faster than that plus the speeds fluctuate alot even tough i got fast speeds before on well seeded torrents using bells 25/10 service. My belief for now i think is because of the voip machine. Does anyone know how to configure the voip machine to coexist with bittorrent. If the problem isnt the voip machine then it deffinetelly means i am throttled by bell. Other thoughts; i upgraded the firmware on the cisco spa122 and the speeds improved a bity 350-500 kb and i found a setting that was a bit strange somewhere in the settings the upstream was set to 10000 kbps, how can the voip maching use so much bandwidth for upstream shouldnt 1000 kb be enough? ihave checked the bittorrent download speeds at relatives one was with bell and the other rogers, the speeds were much faster than what i was getting at home. i havent changed anithing in my setup i only added the modem behind my router. If anyone knows what I should do please reply. |

I'm using Transmission as a torrent client in my QNAP NAS, and I can max out my 50meg on properly seeded torrents. |

There is something fishy going on. I have a DLink VOIP box for Vonage and can easy max out my torrent speeds on properly seeded torrents.
Have you looked into other areas such as QoS on your router perhaps? |

It sounds like you are using the SPA122 as your router?
If so, go back to the QoS settings and set it to only when phone is in use, 10000kbps was probably fine for 50/10. Though you should run a speed test to see what your actual upstream is and set it to that.
I do not know if the SPA122 can handle a 50/10 connection. It may be limiting your max speed. This is unrelated to the issue you have now. |

i have a qnap nas . but im not using transmission im using its built in bit-torent client. but I really get horrible download speeds and now im desperate because all of the torrents that ive downloaded in the last few days are very very slow haven't needed to try qnaps transmission because the built in bittorrent was extremely effective topped out my previous 25/10 bell internet service. I don't have my spa122 as the router. I connected the spa122 both behind my netgear router with qos on and off for voip and also tried plugging the spa122 behind the modem itself and no help very poor download speeds I don't know what to do anymore maybe its the voip box. are there any ports that I need to forward? maybe bell has found a way to throttle because I am seeing very few seeds on my torrents don't know why. |

I tried that built in torrent client (download station I think), but I wasnt happy with it, even though it had nifty built in search which ironically included searching the various pirate torrent sites...
I've had much better torrent performance with Transmission. You can install it on your QNAP, its in the QPKG center |

To rule out the VOIP box have you removed it from the setup temporarily?
Is your modem in bridge mode? Could it be a double NAT issue? |

I tried removing the voip box temporarily and this is strange I left it 1 night out out of the router and the speed reached 1-2 mb but still fluctuant, it is strange. why I say I that I am being throttled by bell is that the highest speed I got with bt was this morning at 9;00 with a speed of 3mb and up after 3;00 my speed was 200-350kb. downloading the same torrent. I have tried switching the modem and voip and sometimes the speeds increase but still not to go over 3.0mb/s. |

ive installed transmission, same problem. can a teksavvy representative help me and check why I have such low speed with bittorrent? From what I see I cant get seeds no matter what I do maybe bell is throttling my area. |
