Re: Terrible Speeds / Grayson, KY

Have you checked the phone wiring inside your house?

Dropping the connection/line when the phone rings sounds like a physical connection issue to me.

Yes, It's all good... windstream guys have came out as well for this problem more than once. It happens much less since the filter was installed on the box outside the house, but it still occurs.

Are the filters actually required? I helped a friend that was having connection issues and I noticed he had no filters inside the house.
Might have had them outside?

While I was on the phone (AT&T) I asked about the filters.
The CSR told me they only use them when needed/problems.

Made no sense. But that's what you get when you ask a CSR a technical question.

No, the filters are not mandatory. They install the filters when there are problems with the line connection.

They sent at least four filters with every modem they swapped out.
At one time I had a box full of them.
Even had several wall mount style. Still do.

When they first came here (Alltel), they provide filters for every single device connected to the phone line.
In fact, it was the first thing they would ask about when you had any issue.

We were told every single device needed one. And subsequently every single device connected to phone line has one on it.
