It is certainly a positive development that CC is getting things like back up generators and improved geographic redundancy. That was a big issue considered last year's mess. The new features are interesting indeed but have already been discussed here. Positive changes are always welcome. P.S. The are not the only provide who allows charges of less than 5.-$ as claimed. |

Reactions:
1) That commentary was very much "from the heart". Much more desirable than a polished press release from some PR person in fancy clothes who has every hair "just so".
2) I started to summarize it, but there is really too much there to summarize. The company really has a lot of very good things going on.
3) More new features are in active testing now and will be released when quality and stability are established for each one.
4) Although CC already did have redundant power sources, they'll add a natural gas power generator.
5) New networking methods will allow backup redundancy with distant data centres (US West coast and Europe for starters).
---------------
As these developments unfold, CallCentric will be better than ever. |

" Due to the fact that Callcentric is a regional ISP (through its parent company) and thanks to recently developed geographically routable IP blocks (deployed by both ARIN (American Registry of Internet Numbers) and RIPE (it's French for "European IP Networks")) - it's now possible to announce the same IP routes from multiple IP backbones.
By using this new global routing functionality it's become not only possible, but also financially feasible, to build geographically separated data-centers while using the same IP network blocks - thus allowing a "local" IP network to span multiple backbones while keeping the same public IP numbering for its network elements (provisioning identical geo-redundant switches, standalone and clustered servers installed in different data-centers but belonging to the same "local" IP network);
So what new geographically routable IP blocks. |

Yes, exactly. |

CallCentric seems to have a knack for expanding gradually without screwing anything else up. I haven't had to do any mods or changes to my equipment in months. |

I read the article with much interest and appreciate the content. The article is published by Arne Bolen (yes I've seen the name here, but I'm too new to know who he is). However, there is no attribution. The article starts with the first-person singular and later on uses the corporate we. That is fine, but is this someone who works for CC? One could assume, but it doesn't say. I would like to know. PS: If the author is shy or would like to remain anonymous, it is still possible to say "CC staff", or similar in order to establish credibility. |

However, I'm not the author of the article. Also I don't have the writing skills to produce such a good and interesting article. In addition I wouldn't be able to compete with the author's great knowledge and skills in VoIP and many other technical areas. The article is published by Callcentric as you can see to the right of the text. " Published by Callcentric" is the information you need.
The article is published on a blog belonging to Callcentric. Yes, the blog is hosted on my website My VoIP News and that's all the connection to me. Callcentric is 100% in charge of the blog and I don't interfere with the content, besides reading it with great interest. said by Ole Juul:... Thanks for posting that, I continue to be impressed with CC's continuous improvements. They really do seem to be stepping up to the challenges of both increased feature set and reliability. |

Thanks for hosting their blog, and I was curious about what happened to the older posts? [corrected typo] |

If you mean the older news items on My VoIP News, I can assure you they will be moved from the old platform. It will just take some time as there is a lot of manual work involved. If you mean the blogs under VoIP Providers, it's up to each provider to publish whatever stuff they like. I do not decide over their blogs, I just host them. The blog hosting is a new service and currently there are two VoIP providers present, but I do expect to see more providers joining later. The service is free of charge, with no strings attached, for VoIP providers. |

said by w8sdz:Arne, thanks for providing this service. It is greatly appreciated! Keith, thanks for your kind words. I got the idea when searching different provider blogs for news stories to publish in My VoIP News. Having blogs from different VoIP providers in one place would be very convenient for me as a News Editor. I had to move My VoIP News from the previous platform to a new platform, so it took some time to realize the idea. I'm very happy to already have blogs from two providers and I look forward to see more providers in the near future. Talking about News. I am very pleased to welcome a new editor to the News section of My VoIP News. The new editor is a highly respected and experienced person in the VoIP area and he also has excellent writing skills. He is well known for most readers of this forum and I'm sure many will be happy to read his news articles. |

said by w8sdz:Callcentric has posted a new article.... That's a lotta info there ! They've even woven in some HUMOUR, now that things have calmed down enough for it to be in reasonable taste, such as : "...in NYC it's easier to get a permit to carry a concealed gun than to get a permit to install a power generator." |

P.S. They are not the only provide who allows charges of less than $5 as claimed. I'm sure that CallCentric was convinced (internally) that these additions were warranted at the times of last year's crises, even sooner than when so many of us reached the same conclusions here in the forum. And again, now that things have more or less normalized, there's time to properly plan, announce, and deploy.... As some here will expect, I'm particularly interested in seeing for myself the exact functionality of their outbound CNAM config menues, and how this may interact with any External LIDB entries which may exist. Obviously, part of this will depend upon how each carrier RECEIVING a call from a CallCentric subscriber parses such info for THEIR respective customers. As for the $5 thing, I've only encountered one other VoIPP (CallWithUs) which will let me repeatedly add funds to my account in $5 increments, however THEY are mostly offering (or being used for) outbound calls. |

I bet they realized that very quickly and rightfully so, because a repetition of last year would have blown them out of the business and that's something they do not want and we do not want. With Localphone you can ad in 1 $ increments , I did it only in the very beginning when I was testing them and now I do at least $ 5 each time. |
