Comcast XFINITY → 305 in Salt Lake Region soon

IN case anyone is interested...while I was going through a bunch of troubleshooting for my cable modem, a local guy mentioned that they were testing the 305 in our area right now.

The guy didn't know enough to say whether this was going to be a fiber setup like the other areas of the country or now.

Pretty cool that they're doing a nationwide rollout. I wonder how many people would bite. Bet if it were gigabit, they'd get a lot more signups.

In the DC market it is. However, they could deploy it with 16x8 channel bonding in the future.

Actually, it is the long-rumored "Extreme 205" tier (»200Mbps service) that is the one that would probably need/use an 8x4 or 16x4 modem/gateway: »Re: Dream Modem - 24x8

The Extreme 305 tier will most likely stay on fiber for the foreseeable future.

EDIT: I suppose the Extreme 305 tier could be offered using DOCSIS 3.1 equipment starting sometime in 2015 or later:
