[Equipment] Rural house in wooded lot can't see WISP's. Tower??

I came across a google search that led me here. I'm considering putting up a tower in a 5 acre lot we just purchased and are moving to. Problem is the local WISP came to "install" their service at our house but he didn't even get on our roof before stating that the trees would block the signal. We have a 5 acre lot and most of it is wooded. Where the tower is in relation to our house/lot is naturally through the thick of the woods. There is no real way to get around that by moving to a different area of the yard etc...

Would putting up a 100ft tower allow them to mount their equipment etc... I mentioned this to the installer and he said yeah, but I don't really feel like investing that kind of $ w/out some other opinions. Also, where in the heck would I start to look for a tower? I guess I'm going the Google route now and just trying to search options, but came across a WISP provider thread and figured I'd ask the people in the field what they think.
thx

Not sure where you live but a 64 foot DMX tower and a pipe always gets over the tree canopy here, for $2600 installed.

This thread probably should be though in the wireless users forum and not here.

sorry that I posted in wrong area. I've been beating my brains out for the past few days trying to come up with some solution. Wife and kids have their "free" built in tech support and have taken it for granted for many many years. Now that we are moving there is a lot of stress in the household placed mainly on me for getting a working solution up and running asap. So again, sorry to post in wrong area, but the google post I found in this section gave me a glimmer of hope :O.

Generally a 100' tower will get you above most tree lines.

The real question is - how much money do you want to invest?

If the tower is in an area that the wisp may find useful, you may be able to exchange tower space for internet service.

Thx for the reply. As far as money goes, I would like to stay in or under the $2-3k range, but I guess I could go $4-5k if it was really needed. Over that and it becomes much harder to justify.
thx

If you have space a guyed Rohn 25 could be affordable at 100 feet but needs guy wires.

How far you from the other side of the hill? You could run a fiber line to the other side and put media convertor on both ends depending on the situation.

thx for the replies everyone.

As far as space and other side of hill etc..??? I'm not sure. I don't mean to be evasive or ignorant about things, but this is all new to me and I'm quite lost in all of this . I'll have to check it out more and probably hire someone to survey the site.

Thx for the links on the used towers and other advice
thx

If you are comfortable, post a screenshot from Google map of the whole area, mark your own property and put an arrow pointing to the WISP's tower.

Isn't posting duplicate threads in multiple sections breaking the rules?

Insommniak. - not necessarily, the location and extent of spending is probably much more the territory of those here vice simply users signing up for service and complaining what terrible service those guys over in the wireless service providers dish out. .

Wirelessdog, the other thread has no responses, this one has many decent responses. What I always do is signal a mod to close one or the other etc.......

thx all and sorry for any problems/rules I've overlooked, it wasn't intentional. My desperation(really) has led me to many extremes including shotgun approaches on various forums.
The replies here have been most helpful.

Hopefully, I can breathe a sigh of relief at some point once I get this figured out.
