RUMOR MILL: Possible delay on Titan?Taken from Gamespot Blizzard starting over on next-gen MMO?

Source says team of 100 developers working on upcoming MMO reduced by 70; game now expected in 2016 at the earliest.
Blizzard Entertainment's next-generation massively multiplayer online game, codenamed Titan, has been sent back to the drawing board and delayed until 2016 at the earliest.
That's according to a source speaking with VentureBeat, who said the project once had 100 developers assigned to it, but that team has now been reduced by 70. These staffers have not been laid off, the source said, but reassigned to other projects within the company.
The 30 remaining Titan developers will "start over" on the game, which was playable in 2011. At the time, Blizzard Entertainment COO Paul Sams said he was encouraged by progress made on the game and said it had the capacity to enjoy a long life, like World of Warcraft.
"We're playing it already. It is a total ball to play," he said at the time. "We think that the reach of that product is greater than anything that we've done before. We're very excited about that. I believe that it's the type of game that will have a very long life, much like World of Warcraft has."
Blizzard Entertainment has not commented on the report at press time. The company currently lists seven open positions for Titan on its career site.
According to a leaked Blizzard Entertainment release schedule, Titan was at one time expected to launch by the end of 2013.
Though Titan may be a ways off, Blizzard Entertainment's fantasy MMO World of Warcraft remains the top subscription-based MMO on the market. It had 8.3 million subscribers at the end of March, down 1.3 million members from the period prior. The developer is planning to release content updates for the game more regularly to avoid further subscriber attrition. " |

No matter how long Titan is delayed, it will have tremendous shoes to fill. The expectations will be overwhelming. |

Unfortunately, it's not the lack of content driving the massive amounts of subscription cancellation. It's the way Blizzard has destroyed every other aspect of the game. So instead of fixing the real reasons why people are leaving, they'll instead just release more content under the same crappy game play model. Sounds like a plan. |

There were making another theme park mmo most likely and had a survey done, and the survey said: We are board with theme park mmo's. There are two games that seem to have promise in the sandbox mmo department. » www.embersofcaerus.com/c ··· tent.phpand Pathfinder online by » goblinworks.com/ |

EA told Blizz they needed to add In-App-Purchase to the game.

From MMO-Champs today: Titan project "reset", delayed until 2016 Titan project "reset", delayed until 2016 Venturebeat broke the news earlier today that Titan has been "reset" and will be delayed until at least 2016. The decision was announced to employees a couple of days ago and sources close to the project gave us more details on the subject:
Blizzard felt that Titan wasn't going in the right direction and decided to make significant technological and design changes to the game. This happened in the past with Starcraft and Warcraft 3. A smaller dev team will be in charge of redesigning the project and about 60 or 70 developers are being moved to other teams (WoW, Blizzard All-Stars, Diablo 3 expansion, Battle.net)
Blizzard didn't officially comment on the subject yet, hopefully this is a step in the right direction and Titan won't have the same fate as Starcraft: Ghost. |

Yawn, Glad they are delaying it and really sad that they are using WoW as they test environment for ideas for Titan. |

What is supposed to be the theme of Titan? sci fi? |

No one is quite sure, at this point. Some are guessing that it's based on Earth's own history. |

I bet this just took the oomph out of Blizcon this year.... I bet the people who plan that are now running around wondering what the hell they'll all about. |

I thought TITAN was really just World of Starcraft.
Think about it, why would they bother starting a new IP?
Im sure "world of starcraft" ended up looking and feeling almost exactly like WoW but with a re-skin.
Unfortunately I think "MMO", like "platformer" is just a type of game which isn't capable of any big breakthroughs anymore. If you think about it, pretty much everything has already been done to varying degrees of success. |

Unfortunately, it's not the lack of content driving the massive amounts of subscription cancellation. It's the way Blizzard has destroyed every other aspect of the game. I've stopped playing for a myriad of reasons, and what has happened in MoP has nothing to do with it. I haven't followed MoP _at all_ but I suspect it's a lot of daily nonsense. I hated it in BC, and then in WotLK and then in Cata. I played to 88 (I think) and already heard the moaning from friends. |

drew, it's some boring shit. But it's the best boring shit out there right now in my opinion. I'm glad Titan was rebooted. Probably a 2020 release if not 2021 for Titan. You know... Soon. WoW will run like this. 2014 Q1 - Expansion to level 95 2015 Q3 - Expansion to level 100 2017 Q2 - Expansion to 105 2018 Q4 - Expansion to 110 2020 Q2 - Expansion to 120 (Last expansion of WoW) 2021 Q3 - Release of Titan (Just in time for Christmas) |

FYI: I logged into an Alliance lopsided faction high pop PvE server a couple of weeks ago to see what a full pop server looked like. Never seen so many folks logged on before. An AH scan was over 2100 pages. |

Titan sounds like Blizzards version of Duke Nuke 'EM. Recall how many times Duke's developer kept switching game engines and what not over it's years of development. Hopefully though, Titan's final product isn't like Duke's.
Though my interest in another Blizzard offering is very low at the moment. |
