Not being a user yet (still waiting on 5S? 6?) I can't fully answer, but in my area 3G is like (early) 1990's era dial up connectivity, so LTE might allow relatively painless web surfing.
I don't use mobile while away from home as an entertainment device, rather for web, email, etc. The only data intensive app I use while moving around is Bloomberg Radio for 20 minutes a day.
I do use mobile for entertainment (Netflix, YouTube, etc.) when home and in WiFi range.

Oh..the network I'm on isn't bad. It was downloading the that NFS app data at about 400KB/sec, so it took about 20 minutes to download about 600MB, LTE could do that in about 4 minutes. Although most times it seems the Nexus 4 is on HSPA+, which should be faster than 3G anyway.

With four bars, a Google search takes 7-8 seconds for the page to fully load.
Not sure what that would be on with LTE (or in other 3G locales).
