[Internet] strange problem with my emails

I'm getting suspicious activity in my inbox, I'm getting a lot of bounced email messages from china and some from japan.

My outbox only has the emails I sent personally, none of these show up. I'm scanning my computer but I'm not seeing any viruses.

Any ideas?

really simple...
someone or something is using your email address to send spam.
Unless it's coming from your computer or from Videotron's server using your username/password to send, don't worry about this.
It happens all the time... this is how the spammers are doing their sh** these days.

To know if it's coming from your computer or Videotron's server, you will need the original message that was sent (sometimes you get it with the error). Check the email and see where it's coming from.
If you are not sure, do not hesitate to post here.

This is what we call backscatter (»en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ba ··· email%29) Nothing to worry about.

Well I figured out the problem and it wasn't backscatter.

Somehow, hackers got access to my account password and were sending out emails from god knows where.

Of course, videotron couldn't tell me what was happening, other than saying "it's not us, maybe there's a virus on the computer." They couldn't tell me where the emails were coming from either. They didn't even suggest changing my password.

I called in, had them change my password and haven't had a return spam email since

if this is really the case, please check your computer...

I've seen other persons with the same problem in the past and nearly every computer was infected with some sort of hidden trojan or virus that was stealing all username/password.

You can scan your computer with apps like GMER (»www.gmer.net/), smitfraudfix (»siri.geekstogo.com/), tdsskiller (»support.kaspersky.com/53 ··· el=88446) and any other apps that can scan and clean hidden trojan and virus
