Keeping the sheep fooled

The problem is that 90% of the users never need more than 7Mbps. This way they get to keep charging more money when they know for a fact, it won't cause them to need or pay for more bandwidth on the back end. What about just making a good quality 10Mbps for around $20-$25 with no caps, no bundling required, no contracts, and see what happens. That' sufficient for HD video and pretty much anything else. Considering that 25% of the population in the United States is considering in poverty, there has to be huge market for that level service.

One could still get basic cable 15/5, nobody is forcing customers on the higher tier. On the other hand my 50/8 went to 101/35 for the same price. According to your tag, your in Phoenix. COX cable is big out there...and they have caps. At least cablevision doesn't have caps. In addition, what does cablevision internet tier strategy have to do with the rest of the country.

I did some quick checking and here is what I found.

CenturyLink $40 up to 10Mbps
»www.centurylinkquote.com ··· odERUAAw

Time Warner
$19.95 for 1Mbps and look at the rest of the pricing
»www.timewarnercablespeci ··· 91808382

Cox Cable – Arizona – these guys are more regional so I’d have to search every region but no region is $20 for 10Mbps.
»ww2.cox.com/residential/ ··· cing.cox

Nobody is $20-$25 for a permanent price is pretty hard to find from anywhere. Most cheap packages require a bundle.

Comcast should really step up their upload speeds. On xtreme 105 with only 20 megabit upload @_@
