muzicman82 posted : Also, I still needed coax connected to the Coax on the Router from the ONT so that MOCA Bridge still worked... otherwise, the STBs complained about no data.

muzicman82 posted : Well, the Coax and Ethernet are both simultaneously active, but Internet only comes in on one or the other. You can connect another AP to the Actiontec LAN-LAN, just make sure you disable the DHCP server if you're going to use a router. I let the Actiontec dish out IPs...

[Northeast] Just switched ONT to Ethernet.

muzicman82 posted : I just did some rewiring of my new home, which already had a FiOS ONT. I am using a Netgear WNDR4500 connected LAN to LAN to the Actiontec MI424WR. Because I really hate the sight of two routers standing next to each other, and because want to do some more CAT5e wiring soon, I moved the Actiontec to the basement right next to the ONT. The other idea was to get that tiny bit of better latency out of the Ethernet WAN. That said I might lose that back by adding the hop from the Actiontec to the Netgear, but I'm OK with that... because the Netgear is 10x better than the Actiontec as far as WiFi performance goes.

So, I did the wiring, called the main Verizon number, went to tech support. Told them I just rewired my home and needed switch the ONT from Coax Internet to Ethernet Internet. He put me on hold for 2 minutes, and came back to verify I had Internet. I had to power cycle the Actiontec but that was it.

I will also be putting another UPS in the basement to provide even more emergency power to the ONT and also the Actiontec should we have power outage.

I figure this also gives me a few switch ports in the basement to facilitate wiring up a couple LAN ports on the first floor.
