Another Place to Send Spam Callers

Over on the Spam, Scam and Phishbusters forum a post was placed »Re: [Scam] US Government Grant Department Fraud describing where to send spam calls. I just changed my CC's call treatments to send calls in my phone book's "spam" group to lenny@sip.itslenny.com:5060 instead of the boring old SIT signal. I only wish I could listen in!

Listen to some of the calls at »www.itslenny.com/ and see how long they keep trying!

Lenny is the best. I've done a few warm transfers to him, but sadly haven't had any particularly fun recordings to show for it so far.

This guy actually wants spam calls sent to him and he answers them just to mess with the telemarkerters? That is hilarious!!

Too bad I don't receive more spam calls...

It's just an automated guy answering, with a very, very, very well done script that is quite convincing. I love when he talks about his daughters...

Ha! After listening to a couple of these calls, I can see that now. This is still hilarious!

I can't get the SIP URI to work. Did it work for anyone else?

In Zoiper I tried sip:sip.itslenny.com/lenny, and also added the SIP URI to my Callcentric phone book.

The SIP URI is not working for me either. I tried calling one of the USA DIDs and just got an automated recording stating "no one is available to take your call at the moment".

Sounds like fun. Believe it or not I have had great success with the Do Not Call List since day one. If I do get a call I just say do not call list and hang up.

Probably overloaded from this sudden fame....

(No, it didn't work for me either).

Maybe, but this thread has only had 45 views (so far). It looks like Lenny has his own subreddit forum and I am sure that it drives much more traffic than this thread !

This recording is probably my favorite so far:
(Someone is calling him to let him know that his SIP server is open to the world)

I had to delete the leading "sip:" to get it to work for me in Callcentric. The exact uri is lenny@sip.itslenny.com:5060

I had one of those car warranty companies that kept calling me over and over one time. I kept telling them to remove my name which they said they would, yeah right. After about the third time calling I just setup my sytem that anytime it received that specific CID to forward directly to the FTC 800 number. THey called about twice more then quit.

I love it! especially the one with the Indian(?) guy who kept on going for 11 minutes and then said he'll call back.. got through the script twice and didn't even realize Lenny was saying the exact same things again!

Lenny's Trunk

Lenny's Outbound
For those of you using Asterisk, you can easily set up Lenny and do a blind transfer to him. On my system, 1188 sends them to Lenny.

1. Create a custom trunk - picture attached.
2. Then create an outbound route for Lenny.

When a spam call comes in and is not on your blacklist, just blind transfer to Lenny.

If you had a FreeSWITCH, try to dial 9386# and listen to the messages. If you like it, you certainly can forward incoming SPiT calls to 9386.

There is no 9286 in default dial plan. Thus, the call goes to enum with this action:
<action application="transfer" data="$1 enum"/>

If dial plan finds an offensive caller, it can send the call to enum directly...

I apologized. The number should be 9386# (I already edited the above post) which is the laugh break extension on FS.

So, I take it getting original Lenny MP3 of this is not possible?

I don't know any way of getting that recording file, but it shouldn't be too hard to make one up. You'd need one recording for the "Hello, this is X!" part of the call and then a much longer one that would loop forever for the rest of it.

This would mean the server would have to manage to play those files on receiving a call, play file 1 to the end, then play file 2 in an endless loop. I don't know if regular PBX software could manage that.

I don't think it is a MP3. I think it is a IVR script. If you listen to recorded calls, then you hear that Lenny makes different responses depending on what the caller says.

The Lenny speech seemed the same to me for the several I listened to. What I wondered is if the timing varied.
