No Name5 posted : "Since you are upgrading to a 128mb of ram, why not throw in a p1 200 processor, sure does make things faster. Just my opinion." LOL
A little more cheap maybe free memory ok. Processor upgrade I think was meant as a joke. They did have them several years ago. Would not even be worth it now. Then again maybe someone has one floating around. LOL The sdram could still be used. One last question are you sure sdram. Probably EDO memory, not sdram on first pentium, wasn't thinking earlier. Someone more than likely has that laying around.
[text was edited by author 2002-03-25 21:04:14]

No Name5 posted : Well for AOL and stuff probably do not need 128. Have pentium 166 with 48 and win95. Does ok on general stuff. Had 16mb to start with additional 32 helped alot. Have not checked sdram prices lately. If there is a sale go for it. Personally I would put a little more ram in it. Whatever I found cheapest. So even another 32 would help. You will notice a difference and get a little more life out of it.
Maybe someone else is upgrading and getting rid of a small 32 or 64mb stick or has one laying around.
[text was edited by author 2002-03-25 20:25:25]
P.S.
Probably is EDO memory, wasn't thinking.

[text was edited by author 2002-03-25 21:02:04]

onavi posted : how much ram do you currently have. any boost of RAM will help your system out, expecally if you have 32MB or less. You have to make sure that your motherboard can handle a 128 MB module. If your system could take a faster K6 chip, that would speed it up a bit. I have a K6 333Mhz and it runs AOL 5.0 without any problems. Just a slight lag when starting it. It won't be like your 1.3Ghz machine though.

kgkia33 posted : I have a new 1.3Ghz from Dell since the summer and my one old PC is at my other house. It is 166Mhz with 16MB RAM. I want to know if it would be worth it to throw 128MB SDRAM in there. I'm thinking it will allow me to operate AOL and other programs which currently take about a minute to start up. Would the slow processor prevent me from noticing a change with 128MB memory or would it improve my PC so I could use it normally?
