What does ATA 100 mean?

What does ATA 100 mean?

I plan on getting two seagate 40 gig 7200 HDs. I would like to use raid 0. I heard these were great HDs. I was about to make a final decision to get these until I saw this:

"Seagate's website says that all Barracuda IV drives are ATA 100, but are shipped as ATA 66. You have to go to their web site to download an .exe called uata100, which lets you switch the drives to ATA 100.
Also, some Highpoint RAID controllers might not see the Barracuda IV
as ATA 100 (mode 5) even after you run the software upgrade. It limits it to ATA 66 (mode 4). I found all this out when trying to setup RAID 0 on my new Soyo PS4 Dragon motherboard." - newegg.com review

I'm not quite sure what it means but it sounds bad. I have an epox 8k7a+ currently that I'm going to use for the raid for a little bit until i get a new mobo (either abit or asus raid mobo). Can someone explain this to me and tell me whether or not this is an issuse?
