[Cable] How long does it take to provision a modem? So I subscribed to an upgraded Cable service a week ago and was required to get a DOCSIS 3 modem. I got the modem on Thursday and called in to provision it. How long does it take? How will I know when it's ready? The current modem just stops working? |

Pretty much, when the current modem stops working plug in the new one. |

And do not forget to cross your fingers. If you don't know about a techniques of how to cross them then ask Mr. TSI Andre, he does it every time when a problem occurs. In addition you can do knee-jerking as well. These two rituals will definitely help |

Ok. I was hoping it would happen in a day or two. |

Rogers is pretty backed up across the board, and the department they allocate for third party is even more backed up. Think more like a week rather than a day or two and maybe it will be a pleasant surprise instead of outrageous. Yeah it's still outrageous at a week though. |

At the beginning of the 4th day I still had no joy, but after calling to Teksavvy phone support, the rep stated they would escalate the request, and the modem was active in about 3 hours. If you were given a similar quote (48 hours) after it expires call in and get it escalated, sped things up for me. |

Yeah I was quoted 48 hours - although I assumed that was just "that's how long it might take, but really it'll take a few hours". Thanks for the input. |

Ran into similar circumstances a few weeks ago when I had to do a modem swap (from a DCM475 to a 476). It took a 4/5 days before the old modem no longer worked and I clued into the fact that it was time to hook up the new modem. The modem will get provisioned when it does |

2 days is the normal provisioning time, but there's a big backlog with Rogers right now, and it will take more time. For me it took 5-6 days before my old modem stopped working, and my new DCM476 started working. This was last week.
I believe Marc mentioned all requests made to Rogers are currently taking 5 days minimum, not just modem provisioning. |

So after the modem's provisioned and I call in to let them know, then it'll take another 5 days minimumt to upgrade my service? |
