[CenturyTel] Oh what i wouldnt give for faster internet acessI have tried everything to get faster internet service out of centurylink. when I first signed up more four years ago I got reliable 1.5 meg speeds for a year out of my single dsl line . not super fast but it was good. then I made the mistake of trying to upgrade to 10 meg speeds. since then my speed has dropped to a blistering 512k . I have tried everything as have my neighbors to get us better faster internet .. but to no avail .. I am running two links now and a load balancer just to get enough bandwidth to work . and every time I call centurylink I get the oh we are working in your area and will get there soon ..
I know it is a new development but the block has doubled in capacity from a home perspective and still nothing ..
any ideas . I am honestly thinking satellite is my only option.. |

Re: [CenturyTel] Oh what i wouldnt give for faster internet aceswhat's your stats on your modems? Also see if bonded DSL is available where you are as that's usually cheaper than two separate lines coming in and will give you the complete throughput on the line (unless it's a bandwidth exhaustion issue - then you're just out of luck)
as far as i know they usually will not give it for residential but i just called the order support department and they were able to manually put an order in for it at my address. I currently have the 40/5 VDSL2 package, but if you can only get 10Mbps, then you're most likely on ADSL2, so you'd be able to get 20/2 and the pair bonding would require them to put you on a different set of cards in the DSLAM so it might fix your issue if you're just on a bad card or something. |

Do you have 4G LTE mobile coverage where you live? If your maximum speeds are truly only 512k, and CenturyLink is your only wired option, you're likely better off turning to the airwaves until the infrastructure in your neighborhood is upgraded. |
