Sweet Witch posted : Ok, connecting the computers and wireless devices was easy, but the printer is proving difficult. I connect the RJ45, and nothing. The port isn't lighting up on the router (it does for active devices) and the BRAdmin software from Brother isn't seeing the printer at all.

I can't find anything in the Brother manual that says I have to activate the port or anything but it did have a plastic cover on it.

Any ideas?
--
"While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

"Are you my Mummy?"

Sweet Witch posted : Hey guys,

I've been running my new Brother HL-2270DW through the print server in my USR5461 router but that's been wonky lately (works perfectly when direct connected) so I'm just giving up on the print server part. My printer has an RJ45 port, but little instruction (the wireless set-up is 30+ pages long, wired is one page). I do not want to connect it wirelessly.

My router currently has all 4 LAN ports in use, one LAN connects to the modem (Verizon FIOS Model MI424WR Rev. 1) but the WAN port is unused. Yes, I know the modem is also a router; I used my router initially because my old printer was, well, OLD and I needed the print server :)

I've never used the verizon modem as a router and I'm fine taking the USR5461 out of the chain now that my printer doesn't need it.

So, I need to know how to set everything up, diagrams are nice too :D

Three wired computers, two wireless devices, one printer. I'll need to be able to get into the verizon modem's control panel to set up the wireless too. Login username? I have the password from the sticker.

Thanks!
--
"While you can teach an old dog new tricks, you simply can't teach him to be a cat."

"Are you my Mummy?"
