If not sure, you will need genuine Cisco label, not Linksys, jds or other.

GM85 posted : There are different specifications of optical networking so you will need to find which specification is best for you.

Fiber comes in two different forms: Single-Mode and Multi-Mode. Single-Mode uses lasers (I.E. a single beam of light) to transmit data over a considerable distance. Multi-Mode uses LEDs (I.E. multiple beams of light) to transmit data over shorter distances, usually under 1000m (3000ft).

When deciding to use a certain gigabit specification, you need to make sure the fiber matches that specification.

Take a look at this document: »www.cisco.com/en/US/prod ··· l#model2

This document also indicates the compatible SFPs for the 3560 and 3750.:»www.cisco.com/en/US/docs ··· wp137285

You essentially have 3 options:
1000Base-SX (GLC-SX-MM module) uses 50um multi-mode cable and can operate up to up to 550m
1000Base-LH (GLC-SX-MM module) can also use multi-mode cable up to 550m and single-mode up to 10km.
1000Base-ZX (GLC-ZX-SM module) can use single-mode cable up to 70km, however it is not recommended in this situation since using such a short length of cable will overload the transceivers.

So you need to decide what cable you want to use. The cable you linked to was a multi-mode cable, so it would be compatible with the 1000Base-SX and LH modules. (as a side note, I've implemented SX and ZX connections before but have not used LX/LH connections, however it should be fine as long as the cable matches the specifications).

yurimaster posted : I hope someone here can shine the light. I'm trying to connect two Cisco switches that are about 1000 feet apart. One is a 3560 and the other is a 3750G.
