Cisco Cable Modem DPC2100r2

Hello,

I think I changed something on my connection configurations settings last night, and now my internet suddenly stopped working, (I'm pretty upset with myself for messing with things I don't know about, I was just trying to see why my laptop only works when I connect the Ethernet cable directly and not with wifi I concluded that the problem is probably just my laptop because wifi worked fine with my phone and pad ) when I log on to 192.168.100.1 I notice it states "Access Denied" and now my modem lights just blink in a pattern all together. any idea on how I can please fix this? I own my modem and router, I also noticed that my firmware is dpc2100rx-v202r1256-120710Uas. thanks in advance really need help.

Did you, perhaps, forget to pay your bill?

That's a "modem only", so there's nothing you can do to it at all. (no user configuration) All leds flashing once per second is "network access denied" -- translation, that modem isn't registered with your ISP. Check that it knows it's HFC MAC, and it matches what's on the label. Power it off, count to 15, and plug it back in.

(There's a "RST" button on the back. I don't know how many seconds you have to hold it down the factory reset, but it's an option.)

...when in doubt, reboot.

...when REALLY in doubt, call the support line.

Thank you for the quick response, my bill is up to date. My cables working fine. See here's the thing I wanted to see why my laptop was always dropping the wifi signal, in order to use the Internet I would have To plug a Ethernet cable directly all the time and it's inconvenience. So I tried to see what I could do, last thing I remember messing with before the signal locked out on me was that I was on the wifi settings and I remember in the options where the drop menu shows "open", "WEP", "WEP2" Ect. I selected "open" shortly after that its when my Internet stopped working all together. It's Been like that since. I've tried to put it back to how it was but still nothing. Now I'm not sure what to do, and was hoping to get some guidance. I tried unplugging it and also pressing the restart button however no solution. Still access denied. Would you please let me know how I can check if it knows the HFC MAC like you mentioned? Having my provider send a tech out would cost me way more than my monthly bill. Thanks again in advance for your response and ill appreciate any help. Have a great day

Firstly, does the wired connection still work?
If yes then the internet connection is still OK.
I'd go in to the wireless settings on your PC and make sure the network settings for your SSID match what you have done with the wireless, which is, remove the security. If you haven't done this it might (maybe possibly perhaps) be that your PC is expecting to have to authenticate with the wireless but the wireless doesn't like the question!

The ONLY page I can access is 192.168.100.1 other than that I can't go to any other pages.
The wifi connects it just doesn't allow me to go on to any websites at all. All I see is "Access denied" on the "About your modem" page. I checked The SSID and they match. I'm sorry I'm just lost Here. I appreciate all the help though. Is there anything else I can try?

Can you specifically answer the question though? Does wired connectivity work? I'm assuming not but please be explicit. We know the wireless doesn't work.
