If they said "HBO Go only" then that would make sense.

I was wrong, it is NOT streaming only.
I just checked with our local marketing director and they stated the package should have a digital box, and that "A Cable Card will not allow you to access HBO"

That does not sound correct. I know that plenty of people get HBO via cablecard and either Tivo or a Ceton card in a PC.
I may have had HBO on this system for a short time during a promotion and I have never had a digital box.
A blanket statement of "A Cable Card will not allow you to access HBO" is false. Maybe there is something specific about this package where they have not bothered to configure it to work through a cable card.
Even, if that was true, they should put that in the description so people would know that before they order and can decide whether they want to pay the rental fee and deal with a digital box or just use the features that work online or simply not sign up for the plan at all if they must live HBO and digital box is a deal breaker.

Their customer service and tech support people need to now this information also, if that is true. If it doesn't work with cable card, then when I called in, the phone reps should not have wasted my time on the phone troubleshooting and then recommending that I waste even more time driving to a Comcast office to swap the card for a different one.
If the don't know the answer to something, they should be able to look it up or get help from the next level of tech support.

It should work with a cable card. But its a new tier and im guessing its going to take comcast time to figure it out. The law says they cant offer it without equipment. But dont confuse that with a honest mistake of comcast needing to figure out whats going on.

I would expect the confusion if it was day one or even week one of a new plan, but this service plan has been out for some time now and they should know how do this by now.
Really, even on day one, they should know how to do this. That is what training is for. I can't be the first person with a cable card on this plan and don't they do a beta program test to find issues before they roll it out?

The plan is only like a month old. That isnt anything. Comcasts computer program is a old dos based program. Any changes in that program takes time. They never allowed hbo on limited basic channels with no equipment and im guessing they are going to have some tweeking to do. It wont be a issue for 99.9 percent of people because most people will be subscribing with a box. Why not ask for the free box that comes with it. Or at least i assume one box is free with it. Limited to one outlet i would assume means one free box included.

Correct- I was signed up for limited Digital Tv package- Hbo & HBO go -They drop Shipped me a Cable box upgraded my internet speed - and Activated the Xfinity App on my Xbox.

As much as I DON'T want any more equipment, and want to avoid paying the HD Tech Fee for HD locals (limited basic customers with DTAs only are exempt from it), the essentially free HBO (based on what I currently pay) keeps calling to me.

I really hope that they do tweak this plan and some of its "prerequisites" over time. Most people who would want Limited Basic are not big TV viewers and probably never liked the idea of needing a box/DTA, regardless of price. Then, they force DTAs on people who don't have a QAM tuner. THEN, they force DTAs on everyone (happening now) by taking away QAM access. And now, they have a Limited Basic plan that REQUIRES a CABLE BOX, and whether intentionally or just due to their archaic system, also eliminates the HD local channels in one way or another if you subscribe to it.

The box they sent me is RGN-100 Label(Scientific-ATlanta) Front marked Cisco-Has a Mcard- usb port- Rj45 (NO) HDMI port so no HD. I'm Not going to Activate it as I Have D* Already Everything NFL, Movie channels - I accepted the offer because it increased my download Seed and lowers my internet bill $10 a month for 12 mo. Then I'll cancel it at that time- I will use the App on Xbox
To view Content online in HD that is not on D*.

Perhaps -Depending on Next yr Health insurance Cost I may drop D* and just keep the limited Comcast offer -from the looks of things Most folks won't be able to afford Health Ins. and TV or much of anything else at this time.
