Leaches at Comcast won't allow customers to save if they provide equipment.

The leaches at Comcast cannot resist sucking the customers bank account dry. Comcast charges $9.95 per month for a digital outlet and STB. If the customer provides their own equipment they get one cable card at no charge and a $2.50 per month credit for providing own equipment. That means customer still pays $7.45 per month for the digital outlet. If the customer requires a second cable card they are charged $1.50 per month for the second cable card. That means a customer with their own equipment requiring two cable cards still pays $8.95 per month for the digital outlet and cable cards.

How can a customer save by providing their own equipment. Unless the Fed's provide an updated to the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992 prohibiting charging for digital Outlets and require the cable company allow customers to provide their own terminal equipment consumers are screwed. Don't expect relief since federal lawmakers are bought and paid for by the content industry and cable/telephone companies. If a law is passed protecting customers I am sure the cable company will demand a fee of $50.00 per month per STB for access to the program guide.

why can't we be like canada where you can buy the cable box? And they don't have extra outlets fees or the ones that do have an extra outlets fee that covers like 4 TV for price that Comcast wants for 1 TV.

I guess it's market specific. The first outlet fee is included as part of the subscription. Using Extenders or other devices with a Network tuner eliminates the need for another outlet fee. CC fees should be less than $3/mo for something like a HDHRP 6CC; I did run into issues getting Comcast to get the fees aligned with what their website says, but talking with Retentions sorted it out. Be sure to inform them that you've only got one TV and if it helps you have a device like a Tivo that requires two M-Cards. If I were building a system next year, I'd consider Ceton's networked InfiniTV6 that takes one CC.

Not all areas of Comcast charges $8.95 for the outlet fee. I'm only charged $2 for each cable card I have & receive a $2.50 "provide your own equipment" credit.

I also don't pay a $10 "HD Technology" Fee

I should also add that if you don't have a cable box, then the first cable card should be included as part of the cable package.

I don't get charged an outlet fee. I think that is a fee for additional outlets not the first one. If you have a STB and a cablecard, then return the STB and you should not get charged the extra outlet fee.
