Re: Connection getting dropped

Everything was set to obtain the addresses automatically, but they 're all 0's

So your PC has no IP address? Did you turn the DHCP server on in the Netgear? My steps said to turn OFF the DHCP in the C1000A, but it should stay ON in the Netgear.

Previously the setup detected a static IP and after a reset, it detected the PPoE. After I entered the login information for the PPoE, but still no IP address.

You did push a pin into the little hole on the back to reset the router, correct?

Yes I reset both the modem and router completely.

I dont know what to tell ya then.. If you followed the steps, it should work.. UNLESS, you are required to have a specific MAC address or Static IP or something. I would send an email to @talktous as invited to above. This should work.. In fact, I am behind 2 Westell 7500's put into Bridge, connected in turn to a Load Balancing router, and have a Netgear modem/router hooked to that as a Wireless Access Point/Wired Switch.

I found the problem, the guys at CenturyLink gave me an incorrect password for the login, missing it with one letter being lowercase which should have been capitalized. I didn't notice this until I went through the online setup page which then had it written out correctly thank goodness.
Here's the IP
71.219.133.12
So far, I've been able to connect, but a yellow triangle is still on my connection bars.

Thats the IP of your PC connected by Ethernet to the Netgear? It looks like a direct IP from CL. Thats why I am confused.. You said an IP of 0.0.0.0 when it should have been 192.168.0.X if connected to the Netgear. The Netgear should have been the one reporting 'No Internet' and IP of 0.0.0.0..

As for the triangle, try rebooting the PC.. If still there, do a reboot sequence.. Turn modem and router off and unplug PC. Turn modem on, wait for DSL, turn router on, wait for 1 min, plug in PC.

I think the bridging was successful. I'm using the router wi-fi right now and the previous post, I think that was the IP connected through Ethernet. Here's a different number after disconnecting the cable.

Again, Im lost.. you still look to have a CL direct IP.

Are you connecting to the C1000A's wireless? This should be turned OFF. You should ONLY be connected through the Netgear and the Netgear should be the ONLY thing connecting to the C1000A. With you being connected to the C1000A while its in Bridge mode, you are NOT behind a NAT firewall and thus unprotected from the Web. You are in essence in a network with CL and every one else with a 71.219.140.X IP address, leaving your PC exposed.

I'm connected to one of Netgear's router connections, but the modem connection still shows up on my list except that I get no internet access from it. The internet light on modem is off and the internet light on the router is on. I haven't turned off any of the wi-fi, NAT, or DHCP settings after resetting again and again.

So what can I do to make my PC secure through this connection again?

Ok, so where are you getting the IP info from? In Connection Status on your PC? Or on the Status page of the Netgear?

Maybe a screen shot would help..

I'll try to get a screenshot, but I'm getting the IP from the "Router Status" page on Netgear.
