Mental capacity? It's not that hard lol.

Also, our LD carrier is different than our local carrier, and we get a huge discount with the LD carrier. Not sure if that's another reason why 8 is needed for LD, and 9 for local.

Yeah, but computers ought to be able to figure that out. I should dial the 10 digit number and let the software decide whether that is 'local' or not.

How would you feel about having to type different URLs to get to some web site depending on whether it was in your home state or elsewhere? Seems like the same principle, but it's obviously silly for the web, because we have no old electromechanical baggage in your heads.

Did I mention that we have to dial 7 + ext for internal calls? and 6+ ext for offices at our other locations?

I don't even know if 9-1-1 works. For us to call security (who are real police officers), we dial 2626.
