Retrain Reason RDI? What is that?

I've been seeing the phrase "Retrain Reason RDI" in the NVG589's logs lately. What does it mean?

What's also strange is that the primary line (line 1) is off balance.

Is this something that I should have an AT&T technician be looking into?

How frequent retrains, how much unbalanced, and what's your rate of CRCs per day?

Knock on wood, in about 3 weeks of NVG589 haven't seen any CRCs, and just one unexplained retrain (~2.5 days after deployed). Only reason I noticed it, was because my FEC count went backwards (was reset).

Believe this means tracking true rate of CRCs is difficult, if retrains are clearing it periodically. Think I'll need a simple monitor to log whenever my FECs go backward.

AT&T's forums suggest RDI stands for something like Remote Defect Indicator.

Only reasons I've seen on mine are: RDI and System Startup, regardless whether it was an intentional, user triggered reset or not. (2Wire's seemed to log intentional, requested retrains a bit better).

Quite often (when there is a retrain) both lines will retrain twice back to back, 1st time with double the sync rate on each line, then back off to half each. Like this (edited for brevity):

00:02:21 line-2: Sync Rate in kbps D/S 55290 U/S 6141
00:02:21 line-2: Retrain Reason System Startup
00:02:33 line-1: Sync Rate in kbps D/S 55290 U/S 6141
00:02:33 line-1: Retrain Reason System Startup
00:03:35 line-2: Sync Rate in kbps D/S 27615 U/S 3040
00:03:35 line-2: Retrain Reason RDI
00:03:50 line-1: Sync Rate in kbps D/S 27615 U/S 3040
00:03:50 line-1: Retrain Reason RDI

I may get a retrain once in a blue moon. I get no errors of any kind, no FEC or CRC errors except if a storm comes rolling in.

Line 1 has a maximum sync rate of 46 Mbps but Line 2 has a maximum sync rate of 57 Mbps despite the fact that the SN Margins and output power levels are nearly identical.

I've had retrain reason RDI and also one called CReverb1 that causes one of my lines to retrain constantly. My retrain count for the one line is already over 100 in just about 30 days. I have already asked AT&T technicians what this is and they have no idea, and they can't seem to fix it either.
