Re: Can't get my Asus RT-N66U to play with my Synology DS213J

So what I do is forward the ports manually.

Which is what I ended up doing and that was much simpler than I thought, except I could not get it to port forward 5005 as Synology recommended, though I don't appear to be using anything currently that needs that port.

Synology just released DSM 5.0-4458 yesterday and I installed it without a hitch. I retried EZ-Internet and still no luck but as I said it doesn't matter at this point for what I am doing with it. The update has a nice appearance to it. I don't know if any new functionality was added at this point.

I think the synology is the best NAS out there, especially for the home.

I'm very impressed. I have no network management experience at all and admit this has been a learning experience for me, though initial setup was a breeze. I think I understand maybe 10% of what this unit is really capable of but continue to learn bit by bit. I really didn't understand much about it functioning as a personal cloud when I got it at Christmas but just love having access to all my music now on my iPhone with the DS audio app.

Out of curiosity (and yes I know the cat joke) why did you decide to run the beta?

I didn't realize it was a beta version. It came up as an update option and I chose it.

Where did you see DSM 5.0-4458 as a 'Beta' release?

I have a Synology DS211j, and just updated to DSM 5.0-4458 myself... No mention of "Beta" anywhere in the Release Notes.

So far, I'm rather impressed with the updated UI.

DSM 5 was just launched. I received an email about 5.0 on 3/10.

DSM 5 is a Production 'RTM' (Release to Manufacturing) build... Quite a bit different than a 'Beta', IMHO.
