Thanks everyone for your comments! I'll try it all out. I think I'll have to change to wireless cordless phones which should solve the main problem I'd have, which shouldn't be a problem.

Just make the cordless phones have sufficient coverage in your house when you get the phones. Some of them are not that good.

Do you already have an ATA? If not, and you are considering buying cordless phones anyway, then you might like to consider buying SIP cordless phones instead and not buying an ATA at all.
