[Equip] Cannot Login to SMCD3GNV Gateway without Resetting It

I have been having line noise issues in my neighborhood this week so I have been trying to check the system logs for my modem. I have a SMCD3GNV gateway. After the first login it will randomly not let me login again and when I then go back to 10.0.0.1 I get a blank screen and no response at all. To fix this situation requires a reset or power cycle of the gateway and then the whole process starts over again.

The tech. who came to my house to check on the line noise suggested I get one of the Cisco DPC3939 gateways. Will using one of these Cisco gateways get rid of the login problem?
