Re: bought a new TV...

I'm about one meter away from the telly most times and don't want to see individual pixels. I looked at a 16x9 32" at The Source (where I won't buy but it's hard to find a store within walking distance nowadays that has TVs on display; The Bay no longer has any) and it was plenty big for my small apartment. A 32" 16x9 TV is longer than my current 27" 4x3 CRT but nearly the same height.

Wait, you're still using a dinosaur power hogging CRT (stupid huge pixels) but worried that you might see pixels from whatever distance?

I doubt you'd have a problem with even a 42" sized 1080p set, and it'll likely sit a good 2 feet further from your face.

Bought a new TV today...

The LG 55LB6500. It's 3D but didn't buy it for that. Surprisingly, the 6 year old LG I replaced, was BIGGER than this one, but only 42 inches wide. the lack of a frame is... nice.

I have the 60LN6500 in the lesser series than yours and I'm extremely happy with it, the "Smart" app plays every type of media I can throw at it (mkv's, mp4's, etc.) and it has 3 USB ports.

You may also have a chroma 4:4:4 capable panel which will display computer output via HDMI with the same level of clarity you'd obtain with a computer monitor.

The built-in speakers are pretty decent too.

Isn't that the idea when you're playing your NES games?

I sit 9 ft. away watching my 65" Panasonic Plasma. No problems.

We still have a 27" JVC CRT that we use for old PlayStation games.

The PlayStation doesn't need a CRT, it's not old enough to, and unlike the generation before it, it doesn't rely on NTSC artifacts for graphical presentation...

Mine is an original PS bought in 1997. It only has composite outputs.

Hey, try and play Duck Hunt on your 65" Plasma or 52" LED TV....you'll lose every time and that dog will laugh at you!

Just sayin....but me, I have a 55" LED TV...non 3D....bought it at best buy during their boxing day on dec 27th sale in Sudbury....its in my small 2 bedroom apartment, it replaced a 32" LCD that pales in comparison. I sit about...8 feet away from it, and its nice, just perfect for the corner it sits in!

So, congrats on the new TV!! Also, Samsung's pretty good, there isn't a file yet I 've thrown at it that it won't play.
