YW, good luck. Often times these things go south even when you were not at fault.
My wifes like a magnet to these things. She is never at fault but she sure has a lot of them. She drives a new car so i only go thru our insurance company who goes after the other insurance company. But you have the option of going to the other insurance company directly |

That why YOU have insurance, they deal with everything thing and if the other person is at fault YOUR insurance company will deal with them paying for the repairs
Did you file a police report? |

Did you file a police report? not yet I can do that at the local CHP office here. I was going to do it that same day but by the time I got there the office was closed. I only have liability that is all, I don't have full coverage. Why would I go threw my insurance company if I don't have full coverage? I only have uninsured driver that is it.. |

the car value is not there trade in value is only $900, PPV $1500 offer that I had.
this was a while back when I was thinking about getting a different car at the time.
since I had just updated the tags at the time. but I had changed my mind about it since I would have to pay for registration again and other costs |

Since you dont have full coverage you wont be dealing with your insurance. But with no police report it can quickly become a he said she said scenario. Even rear enders can get iffy in he said she said scenarios. YOU DIDNT GET HER INSURANCE INFORMATION? Always get that. Other than her name that is the most important thing. |

Good luck. You should have had a police report written up at the accident scene and gotten insurance information for the other driver. Also take pictures at the scene of both vehicles.
If you didn't want the topic derailed you shouldn't have posted details about the transmission. Better yet if you didn't want other opinions you shouldn't have posted at all. This is a pretty common scenario with your threads. |

Does not matter you need to call an insurance company, and you do not know what one...
Your going to deal with the insurance company, the owner does not need to do anything and the amount is not worth going after.
I had someone hit me, I was parked in a parking lot... thankfully they were decent people *afterwards*, kid denied it at first, so we called the cops, they came, accident report had all the info on it, name, plate, insurance company. They wanted to pay cash, I got an estimate and gave them the option (mostly because I already knew I would get more money if they paid cash and I had no plans to fix the car), it was more than they wanted to pay, I called it in after that, the insurance company already knew since the other party already called it in, they sent out a adjuster, check came in the mail.
You now have no one to call, your going to need to call the owner, hopefully you get the information from them and then deal with the insurance company. Other problem is it is now a he said she said deal...
Hopefully you run into no problems. |

Did you file a police report? And he can also be responsible for his deductible and suborgation is never guaranteed. I was just backed into 2 weeks ago, dealt with the other person's company and had a check for a good amount within 5 days. Yes we pay for insurance, but sometimes things are faster and guaranteed doing it another way |

said by Anonymous_: did not have the insurance card on her (that is what she claimed). I still have her ID and plate # and car vin number At that point I would have called the police and explained that you wanted them to respond as the person did not have proof of insurance as required by law. The police then should respond and issue a citation. The person would then need to show up in court and explain why they did not have proof of insurance... either show that they did (and you'd then have the information) or go through the process involved when they did not have insurance. Many states will suspend the person's drivers license until they obtain a signed document from the other driver stating that their loss was addressed. I find about 90% of the time when a person does not have proof of insurance that they don't have insurance. Here is my recommendation to anyone involved in an accident; always look at the person's drivers license and insurance card. Don't simply allow the person to write down this information. If they don't have a license or valid insurance card, call the police and get them to respond (if the person leaves before then, it's a hit/run). Take out your phone and start snapping photos. Show the location, the damages and get a photo of the other person. If you live in Philadelphia just forget about calling the police... they are about worthless when it comes to auto accidents. |

But you have no proof she even hit you without the police report. You could walk down any street and get the info you have on ANY car.
You should have called 911 when the driver failed to produce the insurance card, now you &*^% out of luck unless the other driver fesses up that it actually happened. |

Someone ran into my car last December. I was stopped and she was going fast enough that her airbags went off. My car had $9,700 of damage. But... the transmission was fine.
From the pic you posted, it's hardly worth fixing. If you want, it's just a sand and repaint. |

Exactly. This is a "he said, she said" accident. Without a police report, or photos of both cars at the scene this could certainly be an issue. Especially if the other driver now denies it, or there is no visible damage. The other driver could just as easily say you backed into their car.
If the other person was unable to provide insurance information it is enough reason for the police to respond. I'm also not buying the transmission damage due to the accident. Just a few weeks ago you were posting here about how many near misses you've had, so my opinion is that your own driving needs a little work. |

The last wreck I was involved in turned into that. We got a police report, insurance info and everything. Little old lady had her left turn indicator on and made a right turn into my lane. After talking with her insurance company I was questioned about how the accident happened because she was claiming I rear ended her. I told the guy on the phone I don't know how that could have happened considering the damage on my truck is on the bed just in front of the driver side rear wheel and her damage should be on the front of her vehicle. Needless to say he quickly dismissed her "claims" and went with my story (which matched the police report of course). |

NO Other people need to improve how they make turns if you can't make a left turn safely or make a right( make a u-turn at a traffic light were it's allowed etc.... Also People turning(left or right) in front of other people is the most common type of accident around here. this is due in part to higher speeds around here. just the other day some retard crossed 3 lanes to the right turn lane and nearly sideswipe me. I had to brake hard for him. he was not going that fast since the light had just turned circle green (for going straight) right when I got to were the right turn lane just turned green for me. I all ready talked to other people they had similar problems with people turning in front of them.. You are just making excuses for people and their bad habits.I really do need to get one of these dash cams so you can see all the crazy shit that goes on around here. I could start a youtube channel and make money. |

You take all this time to make a picture, and then say nothing about it.
Get a dash cam, I know I'd love to see some of these things unfold.
We are still waiting to hear what the insurance company said when you called them... |

When I drive the way I used to safely drive in Michigan, when I lived there, Ohio, when I lived there, and every state I drove through between Ohio and here... well, when I'm in those places, everything's just peachy, but here in Cali? I have more close calls in a month of "normal" driving here than I had in the decade of driving before I moved here. When I drive like a complete asshat, though... well.. it's hard to get hit by someone doing 50 on the freeway after overtaking them at 80. But then, I've also never been in an accident, so maybe I'm out place commenting here. |

If you have the factory-made car dock for your phone, the paid version is worth the $5 as it can start recording as soon as you dock the phone and stop as soon as you take it out; it even has accident detection, but I haven't tested that out |

Unfortunately, not all states allow things afixed to the windshield of a car so look at your state's laws apparently there is a section for that (13) (A) A video event recorder with the capability of monitoring driver performance to improve driver safety, which may be mounted in a seven-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver, in a five-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver and outside of an airbag deployment zone, or in a five-inch square mounted to the center uppermost portion of the interior of the windshield. As used in this section, "video event recorder" means a video recorder that continuously records in a digital loop, recording audio, video, and G-force levels, but saves video only when triggered by an unusual motion or crash or when operated by the driver to monitor driver performance. (B) A vehicle equipped with a video event recorder shall have a notice posted in a visible location which states that a passenger's conversation may be recorded. (C) Video event recorders shall store no more than 30 seconds before and after a triggering event. (D) The registered owner or lessee of the vehicle may disable the device. (E) The data recorded to the device is the property of the registered owner or lessee of the vehicle. |

or (F) Have a cop and a federal agent in your family and generally be left alone regardless of mounting.
Also, no restrictions on dash mounting, just windshield. |

Those rules all pertain to a company monitoring people using their vehicles. For example, a delivery company monitoring their own truck and what their employee is doing with that truck.
Not to you using a Dash-Cam you purchase and install in your own vehicle for your own use. |
