[BW Meter] Suddenlink Bandwidth Cap

Anyone else getting the overage notices from Suddenlink for exceeding the bandwidth cap?

I have three teenagers and school is out....we have never gone over the cap. However, we just did it in about 2 weeks with school being out for the summer.

I think Suddenlink needs to adjust their caps based on the new usage patterns customers now have with the access more and more internet streaming content: Netflix, Hulu, Xbox, email, chat, twitter, snapchat, facebook....need I go on....

I upgraded to the next higher plan, but I still don't think that will be enough. I will be setting up timed access to my Airport basestation soon.

They should, but never will. It's an easy way to screw the customer out of some extra money on top of their already exorbitant fees. Adjusting the caps to a more realistic level (or doing away with them entirely) would be bad for their profit margin.

They already give you free days if they don't pull the data together fast enough. Half of my charts are empty in a given month.

yep, but you can stream/p2p/whatever with no worry of overage. or get 2 modems on residential service(2x cost) and a load balancing router to split them equally. you get a bigger effective cap that way, again at a higher cost.

eventually we can hope that all residential internet services will go to no cap or at least one so high you can't hit without really trying, but for now the only way around it is expensive to most folks.

Well let me tell you about suddenlinks awesome boost upgrade they offer customers. It's a huge scam the sales rep will tell you, you get x amount of speed for an extra 10-20 dollars when this so called boost is exactly what is sounds like a boost for a brief second to load a page. The rep won't tell you that as a matter a fact most suddenlink employees don't know it so u pay the extra cash to load a web page a second quicker. If they ever offer the boost my advice is to tell them were they can put it because its a scam. I used to contract for suddenlink so trust me I know what I'm saying. They are a horrible slave driving company that will take your money faster then you can blink with no care what so ever of you the customer

I don't believe Suddenlink offers "boost" service... the only one I'm aware of doing this is Comcast's Power Boost. Google certainly didn't turn up any such service.

If they are such a horrible, slave driving company, why are you still using their service? Suddenlink owns the 74.193.2.x netblock you're posting from...
