Creating a VPN on a Windows 2008 VPSHi there, sorry if this is a stupid question but seeing as i am very noob at this, I will ask anyways.
- I have a VPS Win 2008 r2 server - I have created a L2PT VPN on it that i can connect to, however I need to be able to use the VPS internet access and IP address.
The VPS only has one NIC, so I am not sure if this is possible. I have installed NAT, but have no idea if this is what i setup in order to get internet access through the VPN tunnel. Is there something more i have to setup in order to on the VPS to allow VPN users to access the internet connection, or do you need a second NIC card to do something like that.
Any advice will be helpful, thanks a lot. |

a) what do you hope to do with this VPS server, exactly?
- outside users connect to the VPS via a software VPN client (ie. remote access VPN), -or- - the VPS server connects to another device to form an encrypted tunnel? (ie. site to site VPN)
b) is the VPS currently addressed with an RFC1918 address at this time? ie. a 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, or 192.168.0.0/16 address?
c) if yes to the above, do you have 1) a publicly routable address you are NAT'ing the VPS to, and 2) are the proper port(s) opened between the NAT'ing device and the VPS?
