[Bill] Receiver Prices

I was assured everything on my bill was correct by customer support but I want to know if everyone is being charged these prices in texas. We have the triple play bundle and two standard receivers.

This is what were being charged for them:

Standard Definition Receiver 2 13.98
Digital Service 2 10.20

Probably it's correct, I just figured at least one of them would be included in the bundle. What good is a cable package without a receiver? Our bill has gone up $14-15 since last year. It's up to $220 now. Went up $1.50 since last month. They say it's the taxes. We do get HBO, Sports & Encore so I know that pushes the price up. I also would like something more than 3Mbit net but I want the bill to go down not up. Maybe I'm just too much of a penny pincher...

You can expect around a 10% price increase yearly, depending on what all services you have.

That aside, you don't NEED a receiver to watch basic cable on most all newer television sets. For channels in the 100s, HD channels, and VOD content (including ppv) you will need a cable box. Big reason why I feel their marketing of FREE HD is a lie and illegal /shrug.

What price you will pay will very from every service region. See if you can call in / chat with a support tech and get a copy of the most recent service fees and equipment costs paper. That will break down the costs for you, and also list out all the costs that are rarely ever conveyed to the customer when you upgrade/downgrade/change your service.

That's what I figured. I was told by a tech in I think January? that they were installing an upgrade in our area and he thought in April they were going to do away with the 3Mbps speed and move them up to 15. Never happened. I just don't see the justification for the price going up when the quality stays the same or goes down. been through 4 modems last year and 3 receivers trying to fix a problem we had. the net works good now but the receivers still reset all the time and you have to manually cycle them off/on. We just get told the line to the box is fine here try another receiver. I think there was line damage from when we first switched over our phone, they forgot to disconnected us from the AT&T line and it caused major interference till they figured it out.

They have competition now but they have only 60% of the town on fiber and we're not part of it yet. They quoted me at half the price of our SL bill and said the first receiver is part of the bundle. Not to mention 20/5 net as their basic package. Time will tell.

Par for the course.

They raise their prices so often simply because they can.
