Re: wow

Tell that to ISPs that are successfully running 2.4GHz and 5GHz based networks; when you've got an antenna on the side of a house you can get much longer links than a cell phone inside said house. That's why Dish\Sprint's fixed wireless option will work once they get around to it.

It's also why Cablevision OMGFAST worked pretty well...at 50 Mbps, with no cap...while they had that set up, and that was at 12 GHz!

I'm not saying it can't work. The fact is the HF antennas only work on 700 MHz. I don't know if they have any AWS enabled equipment coming down the pike. Obviously 600 MHz would be even more ideal than even 700 MHz. Of course another difference is Verizon has only 40 total MHz on AWS. Sprint has 194 MHz in it's 2.5 GHz spectrum. They could easily do 80 MHz uplink and 80 MHz downlink. That's 8 times the spectrum Verizon currently uses for HomeFusion. Based on Verizon's current tiers Sprint could offer 80 GB, 160 GB and 240 GB tiers for the same price Verizon charges for 10 GB, 20 GB and 30 GB.

Interesting. I am considering multiple GHz signal, Sprint, through 36,000 feet of 80 foot tall Georgia forest. Even using a large external parabolic antenna, for the Verizon 850 MHz, it is difficult. Parabolic antenna mounted 24 feet above ground. Local vendor of Sprint based cellular service has not done on site survey yet but says, based on detailed description of site, that he would need to mount to chimney and go as high above that as possible. That would be about 40 feet above ground. His guess is it will barely work. He strongly advised us to consider installing a tower on the site that would rise significantly above the tree tops if we wanted great service. I am still hoping the 600 MHz and 700 MHz services to arrive in the area so we can get better punch through the forest than 850 MHz does, using the same antenna mounting location. The Verizon LTE service is not in the area yet, so there may be hope. Verizon had said they would overlay 4G LTE in areas that could get 3G CDMA EVDO REV. A .

Well the stations affected by the 600 MHz auction will have 39 months to move from the time the auctions end. So that puts the earliest date for any company to use 600 MHz into late 2018.

Just a point of order. But when using "HF" one will commonly associate the frequencies in use to be between 3 and 30MHz.

I used HF as an abbreviation of HomeFusion so you know I can stop typing HomeFusion all the time. Hopefully anyone reading this thread can have the sense to understand that.

There are pluses and minuses of 700 in your situation (or 850 for that matter). They'll go through trees a bit better, but they also have a larger Fresnel Zone, which means that things not directly in line of sight can still interfere with the signal. If you can get above the trees, 2500MHz would have a smaller Fresnel Zone, so you wouldn't have to get quite as high to keep from being partially blocked by trees.

If the 3 money eating horses go to horse heaven, then the stable area could be a great place to put a tower. Just have to wait for that to happen in a few years.
