Thanks.
Hopefully this won't be as difficult for customers to to get as the DPC3939 was. |

What's the difference between this one I talked about before? » [WiFi] Cisco DPC3941 Gateway - Rental - AC1750 Wireless! 16x4 D3Is it just the same thing, but with a T? |

Here's the FCC pages for each gateway: DPC3941(T?) » apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/r ··· IDPC3941TC8717C » apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/r ··· -TC8717CThese gateways are only 16x4... which is odd... The DPC3941 calls itself the XB3v2 |

wonder if the USB port will actually be accessible on this one? |

This will not be available for a couple of years to actual customers. |

Wait, isn't it supposed to be 16x4 since that's what the manuals are saying? or is it another DPC3939 situation where the manuals say 8x4 when it was actually 16x4? So the DPC3941T is 24x8(or by 4 upstream?) and the TC8717 is 16x4? |

So the DPC3941T is 24x8(or by 4 upstream?) and the TC8717 is 16x4? That manual, which said it was 16x4, was from that FCC OET Exhibits List for the (non-"T") DPC3941 model. Maybe the final "T" version is 24x8? Either that, or maybe Cisco is using the same scheme as ARRIS, where a 16x4 base model can be upgraded to an enhanced 24x8 model by purchasing a special license: » [Equip] Arris TM1602 Voice Modem - 16x4 upgradable to 24x8 |

I can see Comcast passing this license down onto consumers as a monthly fee. "Expanded Modem Channel Bonding Service Fee: $1.99 a month"
:P
It looks like a nice device, if it has decent signal range. Most of the gateways I have seen have had pretty poor signal range that could be beat by a coax cable plugged into a potato (the SMC D3Gnv was pretty bad). |

Well heres the question does it have a more powerful CPU and more ram than the DPC3939B ?
if so I'll be annoyed as I'm finally getting my SMC replaced with a DPC3939B (and have no plans to use the DPC's wifi. |

What CCAP platform were you using to push out 24 QAMs? Ours are only at 16 per port with Harmonic's Pro but we're moving the broadcast around to accommodate for 32. |

Woah, an x86 powered home router that is for regular home users???
Amazing!
Too bad Comcast will NEVER open up access to the device to let users load, lets say, PFSense to it.
Will the x86 Atom be handling both the Cable Modem and Router Functions? Or is the CM a separate embedded SoC? |

I meant it as a joke. :/ Not hypothetical. I doubt they would even try. Probably lump it into the install fee for customers ordering speeds that would require the extra channels.
Hopefully I did not give Comcast any ideas :P
I do think its a bit unusual that the hardware industry keeps trying to offer licences to unlock hardware features. Intel did this once not too long ago, I think an access code unlocked more L3 cache. |

Or game companies that have DLC included on the game disk but make you pay an extra fee for the code to unlock the extra content. |

I'd be happy to contribute to Comcasts wifi plans, if only they covered the equipment fees. Otherwise, I will continue to run my own modem/router and save significant money every year doing so. |
