[Seamonkey] Ghostery

Is there any extension for SeaMonkey adding similar functionality than Ghostery, since Ghostery is no more supported by SeaMonkey. ?
Or can the incompatibility be bypassed ?

You can use Disconnect. I use it but I really dislike its interface, website and forums. Ghostery is very clear what it is blocking, has good forums and good blog, etc. Disconnect is, to me at least, murky and I'm not sure what it is doing. I was using both on SeaMonkey until this disastrous upgrade to the latest SeaMonkey. Almost NONE of my extensions for SeaMonkey work now (yet SeaMonkey did not tell me they would not work when I upgraded). One that DOES WORK is Disconnect.

Thanks Mele20, I went to the site .
Unfortunately when I try to install the extension I got this infamous message ...

I can't read your screenshot.

Two things:

1. Disconnect doesn't put a visible icon on SeaMonkey. But if you mouse hover over the area past the right end of the address bar (see my screenshot) you should see Disconnect appear.

2. I think I had to use Addon Converter for SeaMonkey to get Disconnect to work on SeaMonkey.

»addonconverter.fotokrain ··· vert.php

It survived the upgrade to SM 2.29. Many of my extensions did not survive the upgrade yet SeaMonkey did not warn me. If I had been warned about incompatible extensions I would not have upgraded.

Here is the thread for Addon Converter at Mozillazine forums:

»forums.mozillazine.org/v ··· =2834855

Disconnect is showing at Addons site as only for Fx. That's why I think I used the Addon Converter to get it to work on SeaMonkey.

Sorry, clicking on the thumbnail did not not expand it..

Should work now.
"Disconnect could not be installed because it is not compatible with SeaMonkey 2.29."

Thanks Mele20

I finally get it to install on SeaMonkey using the converter addon site. Nice find.
I found the disconnect icon on the left side, after the "back" button..
Now I will check how it works with web sites full of tracking and web bugs.

I'm glad you got it installed. I think I recall someone else saying it was on the left side.

Phillip Chee (SeaMonkey dev) is making progress with Ghostery on SeaMonkey and has the Ghostery folks involved. Ghostery says that their dev that handled SeaMonkey compatibility left them and no one else there knows much about SeaMonkey.

Bless Philip Chee's heart! He fixed Ghostery for Sea Monkey 2.32!

(See the bugzilla thread link in therube post).
