Re: [Aliant] Aliant driving me crazy now...Search hits: with the modem at the NID? Have you tested with the modem at the POTS splitter? Do you have any issues
Have you eliminated any issue with the internal wiring, even though you have a POTS splitter certain line issue can still cause issue whether it's on the modem or the phone side.
Have you tested with the modem at the NID? Have you tested with the modem at the POTS splitter? Do you have any issues with your phone line when you're having issues with the internet? |

Search hits: I haven't tested at the NID since there isn't really any test jack or anything, so I'd have to do
I haven't tested at the NID since there isn't really any test jack or anything, so I'd have to do some hacking around just to test there haha. That said, I did try unhooking the phones at my punch block by pulling out the bridge clips. Didn't make a difference, but it doesn't eliminate the actual run to the punch block either.
Something worth noting though that I didn't know earlier. Turns out I'm not the only one having issues. Our neighbors next door (down the line a ways) also said theirs has been going out at 8 as well, and they're only on 1.5Mbps. They said it goes "really, really slow" but then comes back in afterwards too.
There is a load coil on our line, but it did work up to this point? Would they remove it? Would that help? I also see one of those splice boxes (is that what you call them?) wide open taking in all the rainwater. Perhaps that's why our other neighbors (who don't have DSL) keeps having their phone go out in the rain? :P |
