Microsoft → [WIN8] Microsoft Account Password at Login

I used my laptop to reset my friends laptop Microsoft Account password which is used to login to Win 8.1 but it gets rejected every time. I tried changing the password three times and used an external keyboard but no go. I know the password is correct because I can login to his account from two different computers.

Any suggestions, please.

If its a laptop, make sure NumLock is off. (Happened to me after RDP connection)

There is a symbol in the login box that allows you to see what characters you are entering so I know that I am entering the correct letters. Also, I bypassed any possible issues with the keyboard by using an external keyboard.

Make sure there is not some security program that is not allowing the change?

Well, the issue is resolved, here's how.

First I reluctantly accepted a recommendation to buy PCUnlocker which failed to find any SAM files. Wasted $30 !! (Thanks Good Buddy !!)

Then I went to the good old standby of Offline NT Password, deleted the password and all is well.
