[Cable] Rogers cutting off Internet to users with D-Link routers |
|
| |
Had the same thing 2 weeks ago for a client. Had to go in and update the firmware on the router to fix the issue. |

in case there's confusion, they've disconnected users that have infected systems for years. |

It is very interesting though, even if somewhat of a standard practice. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! If people have good links to how widespread this is, or more details about the hack, that would be interesting |

The correct title should be, "Rogers cutting off Internet to users with Vulnerable Routers" |

They are not looking at the MAC they are getting reports of SSDP UDP port 1900 vulnerable routers that are being misused for DDOS purposes. D-Link happens to have a number of routers that reply to UPnP on the wan. If anyone here is idiots its D-Link |

Technically thats all OVERKILL A change in protocol stack doesn't change a pc into a server automagically. Only a fool would assume so. |

Re: [Cable] Rogers cutting off Internet to users with D-Link routersYou'd be surprised at exactly how dense some companies are, even many universities. Good luck on downloading even patch updates from Blizzard if you're at a university in some cases. |
