[Cable] Cogeco Speed upgrade

I signed up as part of the beta for 14/1 service back in February 2013. At some point it got bumped up to 20/2 service, then later 20/10. This morning I remembered that Cogeco was rolling out upgraded speeds for their customers starting yesterday. So I rebooted my cable modem and got this:

I hope Cogeco didn't catch TSI off guard with the speed increase like Roger's and Cogeco have done to them in the past.

On a related note, I ran this test over Wifi to my laptop, in a second chrome tab I simultaneously ran a second speedtest. This used my VDSL 25 service line using my dual wan load balancing router:

I've been happy with the service for a long time, now I'm just a bit happier.

It seems as soon as it is done (per city deployment if the case) on Cogeco / Rogers / Videotron is automatically by default on Teksavvy?

Not with Rogers. I have TekSavvy on Rogers and still have my grandfathered 45/4 package.

rogers seems to change tiers entirely - new pricing, new tiers.

this cogeco change looks like just extra bandwidth shoved into the existing tiers / no price change. that is probably why it showed up automatically.

That's my understanding too. I just wanted to let cCable customers know that they might want to reboot their modems and see if they got their bonus yet.

My firends got their speed raised. They had Cable 20 and now they get Cable 30 speeds.

Cogeco increased the speeds of their packages and advertised it as a free upgrade, only to increase their prices a month or so later.

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle.

Brace for price increase or speed beat down!

Do you just have to unplug/replug the power on the modem, or do we need to do a 30/30/30 reset (i.e. press reset button for 30 seconds)?

Also, has anyone in the Peterborough area got the speed increase?

That's all I had to do, left it off for a good 10-20 seconds

Just tested my GF's connection in Peterborough and it is now at 30/10 up from 20/10

I just wish I can get the same speed in Rogers world. Unfortunately, we get a wee more speed at $15 a month price delta! No wonder they are called Robbers Cable.
