[STB] MI424WR electric usage

I just discovered that keeping my router plugged in it cost from 17$-20$ a month. I know that is not a lot of cash but for me it is a little odd.

I'm a snowbird and live in Pittsburgh 6 months and Tampa 6 months. I forgot to unplug my internet/tv electric connections for 2 months and the bill was different both times. By accident my brother went to my place and unplugged my internet/tv stuff. The difference is what I have posted above.

How did you decide it was the MI424WR?

If you say a STB then you have a point. IMO

QIP2500 draws 40 watts
MI424WR draws around 10 watts, maybe a little more
ONT PSU draws 20 watts

based on meaurements of my equipment installed in 2006.

Say 70 watts * 24 hours * 30 days = 50400 watt-hours = 50 KWH per month
50 KWH * $0.18 (approximate rate in my area) = $9.00 per month

Your power consumed is probably similar for each item I've listed, even newer equipment.
The variables would be total number of STBs and electrical rate.

Yeah, I went through the same complaint with the 6416 DVR. I think it draws about 100 watts. I measured it once but forget the exact number.
