[bug] Site confused about my ISP!

Justin, could you please fix this long standing problem while you are working on the site?

I told this site less than 12 hours ago, when doing speed tests, that my ISP is TWC (Time Warner Cable). I have always had Oceanic TWC as my ISP since I joined this site (known as Road Runner back then). But in the last few years the site can't remember it and has something extraneous in the database as my ISP. This means I can't post to the Road Runner Speed table here after doing a Java speed test and the front page here needs to be repeatedly told that TWC is my ISP.

I try to fix it by picking the first suggestion in the second screenshot but the site doesn't remember and after a bit reverts back to asking what is my ISP.

Picking the selection sets a cookie to remember it. Otherwise as soon as you were on a new IP it would break again.

Do you filter out cookies?

Also, when you use the new speed test, and look at the results, is the domain wrong?

also if you enter your ip into ip2location.com is the domain wrong?

Part of the problem was that I had the cookie for ISP on my default browser on both Windows 8 and Win 10 Preview but the other browsers didn't have the cookie. Now all browsers on both OSes have the cookie. I'd forgotten about this cookie. I keep the two main dslr cookies permanently on all browsers. Getting a new IPaddress is rather rare. I got a new one last month and the one before it lasted about two years.

Yes, domain is wrong on the new speed test and on ip2location.com. Both think the domain is "twcable.com". Time Warner Cable still uses the old Road Runner domain. So, my correct domain is "rr.com" more specifically "hawaii.res.rr.com". (I think I will always have "@hawaii.rr.com" for email addresses...I can't imagine the difficulty in moving all those to "@twc.com").

Flash test here and Java test here see the correct domain. Flash results won't go into the speed distribution graph or speed statistics here. Only Java does. Will the new html5 tests show up in the graph for rr domain when my problem is corrected to reflect the correct domain on the new tests?

I am not going to be doing anything with the statistics until I'm certain that the results are meaningful.
They are probably fine for your connection but it would be unfair to shove out entries for people who are not near a test server.

The site now says it has recorded that Time Warner Cable controls the subnet I am on. So. that is fixed. However, the new speed tests still record my DNS as "twcable.com".

the new speed tests use the ip2location database but for final recording the results will be compared against reverse dns

That gets back to what I said about not rushing to use the data until it is correct.
