Digibits posted :
said by TheHondaMan:
Guys, guys all he really needs (and wants) is the EPoX 8KHA+. All bugs worked out. Fantastic board. Not as good as the KR7A, but, it is extremely good performance wise. Very cost effective for what you get. Comes with 4-usb ports and drive cables. I've used over 100 of them, and personally use them for myself. The on-board debuger card is the best feature on any board period. Look at how much time and trouble it's saving people. Very trustworthy. Very stable. Very high performance, but not as good as the Abit KR7A. If you want a really good board, 8KHA+ is best choice. If you want the best, go with the KR7A, but if you want to pocket some $$$/upgrade to better component, then go with the 8KHA+.

I took TheHondaMan's advice and couldn't be more satisfied, There may be better motherboards, but this EPoX 8KHA+ is doing everything I would ever want to do.
[text was edited by author 2002-04-13 19:07:06]

TheHondaMan posted :
said by LuckyBob:
I'm not saying that they are all completely useless. But the kr7a seems like the best choice to me.... especially since its got that awesome BIOS which gives you jumperless access to almost everything. In the overclockers.com forum there have been waaaay too many complaints about epox for me to even consider it as an option.. (Enermax incompatibility, frying NBs etc.)

EPoX now works fine w/Enermax PSUs. EPoX also has jumperless access to almost everything. Only 8K7A and older didnt. You know why? Award BIOS design couldn't handle the 'PoX's overclockability via BIOS. Complaints? again, only for those who live by the benchmark, as mainly many OCers do there. Abit is a better mainboard company as of today. But again, you pay for it. EPoX is about 8.5/10 and Abit is about 9.5/10.

As for Psychephylax, that MSI board is excellent. That board was designed for people like you. It certianly doesn't take the crown for overclockability, stability, nor reliability, but it sure takes the crown for the little extras that make MSI what it is. I have tried out that board, and it is great. Only complaint, is that reliability isn't so hot, some MSI boards (3) that I have used in PCs that I have sold just unexplainibly die after a little over a year, so it cost me $$$ b/c the MSI only have a 1-year warranty. Other than that, MSI is one of the most loaded boards that you can get at any price!
--
The Power of Dreams
Powered by Honda

And it's not expensive at all.

I don't think that he wants to gamble on quality. ECS=budget. Plain and simple. Budget quality, budget support, budget performance, budget stability. I will never buy an ECS board again simply because they don't have great support, nor fantastic reviews. I have had purchased 20, but 1 was doa and the other was dead after 1 week. Sorry the extra $20-30 for an EPoX is way worth it!
--
The Power of Dreams
Powered by Honda

TheHondaMan posted : Guys, guys all he really needs (and wants) is the EPoX 8KHA+.

Pros:
High-Performance
Large space for HSFs
Low Price
Good Quality
Great Support (better than Abits!)
All bugs worked out (same as Abit)
Great over clocking

Cons:
No Ata/133 (only Maxtor supports it, not great performance incrase)
No 4 DDR SLots
Not as great performance, but it's really splitting hairs unless you live by the benchmarks.
--
The Power of Dreams
Powered by Honda
