dcgm19 posted : so the only reason is the servers thing thats kinda silly like i do understand but come on they should offer a service at a decent price for user who want a static. ya sure i can buy business internet but a static is an extra $30 which is a farking ripoff when i can go with teksavvy (dsl only of course). anyways i dont really care at to much since i can buy a vpn service with a static im just happy to have fiber instead of dsl. also for ipv6 will that be static (when they decide to implement it)

btech805 posted : So far there's no official plan for ipv6, although it will come, it has to. As for offering statics, Bell doesn't because the residential terms of service strictly forbid running servers or operating a business over the service so for other than those two reasons there is really no reason to require a static IP

Now has any one ever been reprimanded for running a server or accessing a work VPN on a residential account? Not as far as I know, but if you become a bandwidth hog because of it Bell reserves the right to cut you off.
--
My opinions are my own and do not represent the opinions or wishes of BCE or any of it's subsidiaries.

dcgm19 posted : Why doesn't bell offer statics for residential service i never understood this. Also why don't they do statics for everyone instead of dhcp wouldnt this be easier to track and manage like I don't see any reason why they would offer statics but i also can see if they have dhcp why go static for everyone. does anyone know why bell wont give a static to residential. Also IPV6 is bell doing this whats the deal with that and for residential will it be a static /64 or /56 or something or how will that work if they ever bring ipv6.
