a line of 'dead' pixels on a laptop

I say 'dead' because they actually have what seems to be random color to them when a color is on screen. Like yellow will make them blue, black will make them greenish blue, red they'll show as something, and so on and so on. I guess they're more like, confused or stuck?

But yeah, it's a line running the width of the screen. Is there any software that can revive them? Or is this screen shot, on a brand new Dell?

sounds like the cable from the screen to the motherboard has a crack or come lose. If its brand new I would be calling the place you bought it at for repair/replacement.

Most LCD's now will not be fixed unless 3-5 pixels are bad. With you having a whole line the screen needs repair.
