Not too many people seem to be cutting the cable cord:

It is all overblown by people who think they see the future. The only true cord cutters are those who drop all cable services (including internet). I don't see Netflix customers as cord cutters as they still have a cord coming into their houses.

But then you get the realities if you go streaming, etc. Just as the new fios packages basically try to get you to add as many packages as possible by distributing the channels, most people find out that Netflix even with Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus do not serve all their needs and stick with cable or satellite bundles.

Surprise!

The company whose very business model relies on maintaining the status quo says the sky isn't falling.

So I just signed up for this and got base + 2 with 50/50 for $54 before rental fee, cable box and fees taxes. Setting aside the logistics that is not a bad deal at all.

However here's the catch everyone needs to see; after 24m the price increases by $56 according to discounts applied. Insane to think people will stay when that happens. I'm moving out into my own place and was previously paying $109 for Extreme HD and 75/75 under someone else's account. Wanting to cut unneeded bills and the Custom HD packages were perfect at their advertised rates. I can only imagine what the cost of the old packages will be in two years.

Wow, good price for you. I did base + 3 with 50/50 here and it was $80 before rental fees, should be $115/month total. After two years my price will increase by $40.

Edit: Was chatting with a CSR this morning on trying to determine when my equipment would ship, she couldn't tell me, but did upgrade me to 75/75 while keeping the same price, so discounts are now at $51/month for two years, not bad.
