Pot will do that to you. They sound bitter. Something might have happened in their lives. People change over the years. Things happen. |

Time changes folks though, nothing can change that. A few years ago I ran into a guy I knew in grade school, his parents were very "proper" and I frankly had the guy pegged as working for IBM (like his dad did at the time IIRC) Imagine my surprise when I found out he ran a comic book store and his look was "rugged" Of course I'm sure he had the same reaction when he saw me NefCanuck |

Ah yes, rebellion. My neighbour when I was a teen was quite religious. He turned out fine (RCMP) but his buddy was the son of a preacher. This preacher ran a bunch of churches across Western Canada. That kids was into shit neck deep ALL THE TIME! Then there were the pretty twin blondes, also kids of a preacher, who slept with half the guys in high school. FaxCap |

Most people I've know a long time sort of slowed down as they got older. Smoked less pot, drank less booze. However I still run into the odd person that went the other direction. The odd person that's a total chronic or just kept going with it. Most people seem to grow out of it, but some people embrace it.. lol. |

Drugs change people, for years there was a woman near my cottage that was a total alcoholic. Fortunately she did quit but it took years before her voice and personality returned to normal or at least to an external observer. No doubt internally she would be fighting urges and cravings for the rest of her life.
In another case a kid I knew in high-school got into weed and unfortunately slid from being a very articulate and brilliant person into someone I would describe as being alive but not all there. In fact there have been studies that show a link between weed use and mental issues, the fault it seems is present in the person to begin with and lays dormant (perhaps indefinitely) but can be triggered by weed. I suspect that in his case the stuff fried his mind, it seems a crude description but if you met the person before and after it best describes the transition.
On the flip side of things for others weed does the exact opposite and seems to suppress some mental health issues particularly schizophrenia. Perhaps in the future a cheap, inexpensive test will be made available that helps sort out those which might be helped by or harmed by the stuff before they try it. |

These people choose not to be sheep, and we call them: wacked out abnormal bitter I use a different word. Free. They uncouple themselves from the rat race, which is all designed to do one thing, make the wealthiest 1% wealthier. The rest of us can remain blissfully ignorant, bay with little regard, point fingers, and stand waiting to be sheared. |

So basically what you're saying is that you smoke pot and agree with that mentality of dropping out? They will undoubtedly find it harder than they think to survive....I asked them what they would do for money, and their answer was work under the table!!!Both are close to 60 yrs old and have some medical issues that they think this pot oil will resolve..........unfortunately they're both in for a rude awakening. |

No. said by ZZZZZZZ:They will undoubtedly find it harder than they think to survive....I asked them what they would do for money, and their answer was work under the table!!! People who choose to move off the grid always find life a bit more difficult, but only because society is set up to penalize those who choose not to participate in the rat race. Basically, the 1% put these penalties in place because they're afraid of what would happen if they didn't put them in place. And more and more people are moving to the underground economy, where the tax burden is acceptable and "supply & demand" and "democracy" flourish with little corruption. said by ZZZZZZZ:Both are close to 60 yrs old and have some medical issues that they think this pot oil will resolve..........unfortunately they're both in for a rude awakening. Many people have medical issues. The health care / pharma sectors in this country (and the US) are designed to keep people sick (treat, not cure) to maximize billing. I don't blame them one bit for wanting to stay clear of that. There are numerous anecdotal instances of miracles coming out of the cannabis oil camp. Too many to cite here, just google it. Cannabis oil: not for just quacks anymore. In any event, they'll likely die a bit sooner, and die much happier. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my 75 hour work week so I can keep my nose above the waterline whilst the government takes 55% of everything I make for nothing. |

That's nonsense and don't even compare Canada with the Yanks.....we've got it made here compared to them. My BIL is having a heart bypass for a clogged valve and the bill will be close $400k........luckily he has coverage at work and they'll probably only pay 1/10th of that. |

Doctors here get paid based on how many sick people they see. Compare our system to that of Japan, where they get paid based on how many healthy people they don't see. Our system is a joke. There's no incentive to cure anything. Just treat. AKA cha-ching. said by ZZZZZZZ: and don't even compare Canada with the Yanks.....we've got it made here compared to them.
Agreed. But that doesn't say much. |

said by huh_wha:Our system is a joke. There's no incentive to cure anything. Just treat. AKA cha-ching. There would be far less need for medical care if people stopped smoking, stopped overeating, stopped driving while drunk and other reckless behavior, stopped unprotected sex, and so forth. None of that is the fault of the doctors, now, is it? Be honest. Down here doctors are increasingly expected to police their patients, convince them to stop smoking like chimneys and eating like pigs. I for one don't see why this is the responsibility of the medical community. For example, the dangers of smoking have been clearly known since the 1960's. If some shlub is somehow unaware of that until his doctor tells him, that shlub deserves a Darwin Award. |

I agree with everything you said. That said, what you said said nothing about what I said. 'Nuff said. |

they see a problem with the system as it exists, and have chosen to remove themselves from it as much as possible
seems logical to me, and pretty brave. they clearly know they're going to have some difficulties, and are willing to accept that.
i have more respect for people who take action when they see a problem than those who shrug and say 'oh well, nothing i can do about it' and busy themselves with the minutiae of day to day life in an attempt to bury their head in the sand
but hey, if you concern yourself with silly stuff like government corruption, you might miss your tee time. can't have that. |
