Gigabit in GreenvilleSuddenlink is now offering Gigabit service in Greenville.
$110 per month 550gb cap $35 Tech fee
I passed on the service right now. Why would I pay more to hit my cap quicker? Their 150 tier has the same 550gb cap. |

Hmmm, that is far & beyond the most absurd cap on a gig line I've ever seen.... what happened to the 300 tier?
What technology are they utilizing for deployment? D3.1 is still a bit down the line, unless we are a test market or something.
Did you call or chat online? |

Yea, both. Same result. |

I just posted this in another thread before I saw this. I was told cap on 200 plan will be 450. Next plan up is 1 gig with 550 cap. |
|
|
Did they say anything about needing to replace existing equipment in the home, such as the modem? |

Yea, all current retail modems are not compatible with the service and you'd have to rent from them, $10 a month.
I was upgraded to the 200Mb plan and have a 550Gb cap. |
|
|
Just checked, I'm at the 200 plan now as well. With 20 up (according to the SL Internet Speed Test listing), still 550 cap. |
|
|
For the same cap and paying $40 more a month ($30 for the service & $10 for the rental) it's just not worth it.
I was very close to ordering it but they wouldn't waive the install fee. |

I'm confused. These news articles claim they're offering gigabit service to the entirety of these communities, but DOCSIS 3.1 isn't finished yet and most similar deployments are fiber to the home aimed at developments. Are they really deploying fiber to an entire town, or is the news article wrong? I've dropped them an inquiry but haven't heard back yet. |

I was upgraded to 100Mb plan. Cap still at 350. Speed tests show the config file has not been pushed yet. |

Not having the service, I can't speculate on how it's delivered. But they haven't pulled fiber to my address and I've verified that is available.
Service is 1Gb down and 50Mb up, with the 550GB cap for $110 plus modem rental. |

Same here Karl, however I'm guessing that the forced modem rental is the key here. Evidently they have d3.1 modems in house? Possibly using the Arris E6000? |

Very interesting. The cap is a huge disappointed. They try to compare it to the google fiber offering, yet nothing about the two services is the same.
I am very curious about it for sure. Guess I jumped the gun spending money on the 16x4 modem if this service requires their rented modem. |

I might be in the same boat with the modem, but it'll help outlast these poor decisions by Suddenlink. |

I've been paying $74.95 for Suddenlink's business plan for about a year. It's unlimited. 50mbps down and 8mbps up. I use it at my home and completely for personal. My monthly usage range from 1200GB to 3150GB per month. The Suddenlink business acct rep called me and asked me if I was interested in upgrading to the new gigabit service. Sure, as soon as I win the lottery. For business, unlimited gigabit service is $575 per month. By comparison, I'm only paying $295 per month to lease my current car, BMW 535i. There is no way that I'm going to spend more money on internet than my car lease. |

My account is also showing 200/20 but testing at the same speeds even after a forced factory reset and reboot.
Wonder if we have to call in or chat for these profiles to be pushed, or if they will come out on their own at some point.. |
|
|
I saw the same speeds, I'm chatting with tech support now. |

Possibly using the Arris E6000? I didn't think DOCSIS 3.1 tech was quite cooked yet? And if they were first to field with DOCSIS 3.1 I'd expect them to be making much more noise. |

Now I guess we have to wait for someone to jump the gun and get the gig speeds and show us speed tests and tell us about the equipment etc. If my money situation was better I'd jump on it for the team, lol. |

Think the E6000 series equipment that they are supposedly utilizing on their end currently supports d3.0 with update capabilities to d3.1? Not quite sure what happens on the client's end however. |

Just finished with online chat and 1Gigabit service is now available in Bryan/College Station also. Price is $148/month after tax. The rep said that a 16 channel modem is required. I asked if the 16 channel modem would be able to support the full gigabit speed and they said yes. That doesn't make sense but we'll see.
Confirmed that data cap is 550GB/month which is highly disappointing. Upload speeds are 50Mbit which is also disappointing. A "pro install" is required for a tech to come verify that your computer can handle 1Gigabit before it will be installed. |

Would be interesting considering I have a 16x4 channel modem already, if they would just push the config file without a tech visit and having to rent their modem. The puzzle continues. |

I did ask if I purchased the 16 channel modem myself, would the tech install still be required and they said yes. They also said that it was 10 day window before a tech could come by here in Bryan/College Station. More unfortunate news from Suddenlink. |

Looking at my current bill, I'm guessing here, but it's likely that it'll be the 300 tier with "1 gig speedboost" so they're likely selling the tier as "up to" 1 gig even if they can't actually approach it yet. Current bill is wrote up as 75 meg HSI with add on 150 speedboost. Support confirmed this is correct and there is no actual 150 tier HSI tier, just the speedboost, at least in my market. |
